Damn, the food is taking forever! It's insanely packed on weekends—I already waited in line for an hour, and now I've been sitting here waiting for another freaking hour just to get served

Food was good. There is definitely a better sushi restaurant elsewhere in town. We waited a very long time for our food and ended up removing some food from our order as it took too long to come out.

When I arrived it was super packed. On a Tuesday there was people waiting to be seated. This is a good sign. I was just by myself so I asked to sit at the bar. There was one spot left! I was seated and the service was good the waitresses were nice. I ordered the sashimi bento box. It was very good ? when I return I will probably get this again. I had a really good experience.

Kid-friendliness: They offer high chairs and a kids menu with authentic things like udon and ramen noodles. My kids were VERY happy with their meals.

Food was great but service was terrible. I had to share my water with my wife due to no refills and not once but twice was my food service to the wrong table. Will definitely be taking a break this restaurant and trying out other sushi restaurants in

Best Sushi spot in Visalia! We've been customers since their original location and really enjoy the location on Main Street since the move.
Outstanding beer and saki wine menu, along with great food. Sushi Kuu has never let us down in all these years!

Whenever we travel to this town, stopping by this sushi restaurant is a must. The dining experience here is truly upscale, thanks to the owner's artistic approach to sushi-making.
He takes great pride in sourcing his fish directly from Japan, and you can taste the freshness in every bite.

The sushi roll collection is not only extensive but also incredibly flavorful. It’s a delight to see the original owner crafting the sushi himself, showcasing both skill and passion for his craft.

However, I must mention a concerning aspect of our visit. We observed an employee handling fried shrimp with her bare hands, transferring them into dishes without gloves.
This was repeated multiple times, which was off-putting, especially since the sushi chefs, including the owner, were all following proper hygiene practices by wearing gloves.

Overall, while the sushi remains a highlight and the quality is impressive, I hope the restaurant addresses the cleanliness concerns to ensure a consistently enjoyable experience.

We’ll definitely return for the sushi, but we hope to see improvements in food handling in the future.

Vegetarian options: Salads and Soups

Dietary restrictions: They have cooked fish if you have allergies to raw fish.

Parking: Free street parking.

Kid-friendliness: My kids like it.

I don’t know what your non-coastal sushi is like but this place is a hidden gem. ? My favorite sushi is Shiro Sushi in Seattle, WA (aside from places in actual Japan) and this place is right there. With the freshness of the fish, the subtle actual use of real wasabi, real crab, and the perfect balance of sushi rice vinegar - I was in heaven. Amazing sushi chef! ? I had the Chirashi bowl, cucumber salad, and a craft import beer (see pic). I literally would have paid twice as much for this quality. Can’t recommend highly enough!

The sushi was amazing and the service was not bad. But I tipped $20 cash on a $98 bill but I guess that was not enough because the server also added an extra $20 to my card. So $40 in total for a tip on a $98 bill. Shame because the sushi was great but I don’t think I would want to return because of the dishonest servers.

My husband and I were in town for a work trip, and definitely did not anticipate our one meal out in Visalia to be some of the best sushi we’ve ever had. Hands down, the green goblin roll may actually be one of the best rolls in circulation. The flavors were amazing, jalapeño, citrus, and the fish had the perfect consistency. The atmosphere was airy, with welcoming brick walls. It’s a great place for families or a date, which is a hard balance to strike. The service was 10/10 too!
