As a Vista native resident who loves to support Vista businesses, I’m here to say that Mikko has lost a supporting customer. After tonight’s discriminatory treatment by the tall white man with a ponytail and cross tattoos behind his right ear, I will no longer be supporting Mikko.
My family of three came in to Mikko on Saturday 3/8 at around 8:30 pm and we were semi greater by the man I am about to publicize. We waited to be seated and the man asked me if he could have a name to add on the waitlist. I gave him my name, ‘Erica’. He said “It will be about 5 minutes before you are seated” I said “Yeah of course, no problem”. We waited inside since we have a toddler and it was cold outside. A minute after, two young white males walked in and they also got on the waiting list and were told, “it will be 10 minutes.” After that, a couple walked in and was told that their wait time will be 15 minutes.
Explain to me why the employee called the two young males that came AFTER us and were offered a booth before us!? We were there before them!? It's completely illogical.
As a woman of color, this behavior upset me. I kindly asked the employee to scratch my name off the list. My family and I will not be coming back again. And I will make sure the rest of my family knows about my treatment at this place.
Mikko, you should consider replacing your FOH, they are the first point of contact with your customers. Customer service is key.

Food is good..the fish is tasty and fresh.Some have more cucumber than fish...I also like the miso ramen...My only complaint is they are more concerned with their takeout business than their dine in...Example they have a great sushi bar and it is totally closed because they want the space for takeout. My opinion which many share is when eating at the sushi bar is alot of the experience of going out and eating sushi. Drinking saki and talking to the chefs to prepare specialty rolls....Also when they sit you in the rear by the bathrooms you can get lost back there. Need heaters outside while eating and waiting to be seated.

Had some time to treat myself to lunch on a Saturday afternoon and I decided to swing into Mikko Sushi to give it a go. I'm happy to report I had a quick but satisfying lunch comprised of two orders of both sake/salmon and hamachi/yellowtail nigiri. Beautifully cut, generously portioned and properly presented, I was very satisfied with my mid $20 lunch. I'm going to bring the Mrs back here with me so we can delve a bit deeper than I did into their offerings. Excellent value and quality IMNHO.

The service here speaks volumes to a well-managed place, atmosphere is good, and the food closes the deal 3 fold. Btw . Fyi . Never get sushi to go. But in rare occasions, this place actually vents the boxes and makes sure you get your food home at its tip top for togo. Love it

The food is good, but service needs some improvement. Ordered online and had to wait for almost an hour and a half.
I love Mikko sushi. But my experience out of all the times I've gone they failed me this time I ordered and was told 15 - 20 min the food would be ready and they had me waiting 1 hour past the time they said very disappointed when I tried getting the money back they had me go through 3 different people because all of a sudden no one knew how to make a return. I hope this does not happen again. So make sure they give you your food when they say..

Great place. Sushi is my favorite food. I was with my fiance in that area and just randomly decided to come here and honestly don't regret this spontaneous decision at all. The rolls are really good quality and quantity. Aliii our waitress was really nice and made the experience even better. One thing I need to comment about and I definitely don't think it deserves a -1 star or anything but I just wanna share my opinion.
The men's restroom sink's faucet was too short for that nice design sink. I had a hard time washing my hands. I'd suggest just changing the faucet with something longer.
Other than that I definitely recommend this place with no hesitation.

Great sushi place, prices are very reasonable and the taste was still amazing. The staffs are friendly and attentive as well, especially Crystal, she always makes me feel so welcomed and special. My favorite rolls are Dynamite and Samurai it’s crispy and have a little kick, the both flavor are amazing. Definitely will come back soon and can’t wait to try all other rolls.

I heard good things about Mikko so tried it and I wasn't disappointed. Food was clearly prepared with care and was fresh. I tried the Salmon Skin Roll and it was the best I've had. That alone will definitely have me coming back! Great service as well.
