With high hopes and an empty stomach, I recently visited this establishment to satisfy my cravings for smoky flavors and grilled goodness. While my visit left me with mixed feelings, I can confidently say that the food at When Pigs Fly BBQ was just okay, without being extraordinary or disappointing.Overall, the sides were satisfactory but failed to elevate the meal. One aspect that did stand out positively was the portion sizes. The servings were generous, ensuring that no one would leave the restaurant hungry. This is definitely a plus for those seeking a hearty meal.In terms of pricing, When Pigs Fly BBQ falls within a reasonable range for a barbecue restaurant. While it wasn't an exorbitant expense, I would have expected slightly better quality given the prices. The value for money was decent, but I believe there are other establishments that offer a more memorable dining experience at a similar price point. In summary, my visit left me with mixed feelings. While the food was not bad, it also didn't reach the level of greatness I had anticipated. The average flavors and unremarkable sides held it back from being a standout barbecue destination. However, if you're looking for a casual meal with decent portions, friendly service, and an overall satisfactory experience, When Pigs Fly BBQ might just fit the bill.
Where do I start.....Ive always loved this place as a local spot in Vista but when we hired them to cater our 180+ guest wedding....WOW! Literally every single person has been raving about the food (Tri Tip, Pulled Pork, Mac'n'Cheese, Potato salad, green salad, and cornbread). Thats been the first comment from everyone, "Wow, that was the best wedding food we've ever had!". Not even joking on that. Can't thank Izzy enough for everything. I even gave the poor girl the wrong address to the place, and she figured it out and was even set up in time!!!!Izzy, can't thank you and your team enough. See you soon!!!!
I first heard the chunky tanned girl saying♧u$$¥ while chatting with the kid who worked and eventually cut my tri tip. This same *girl, handed me the open box crudely, I looked inside and noticed there was no BBQ sauce, so I asked for some bbq, she seemed annoyed she had to repeat the options as it's my first visit... then as I almost walked away again I noticed there was no fork, to eat the tri tip, beans & slaw. She made a face and the kid then took the initiative since he noticed she wasn't going to bother. The young man who helped me was courteous.Tri tip was good, Cole slaw was ok, BBQ beans were awesome. That girl has a horrible attitude and ZeR0 customer service skills. If she's there in not ordering anything, she's a buzz kill.

Here's a tip, when you walk into a restaurant and you see trophies for multiple years in a row spanning decades, eat anything on the menu. The owner is an amazing Master barbecuer, the manager and the staff are absolutely on point. I recommend everything they make. I've tried most of it and I absolutely love it.

Have stopped in several times and only managed food once. Service is AWEFUL!
Meat just falls apart in your mouth so tender food was excellent customer service great best BBQ in town
Just average pretty much covers it. Nothing special. No employee came to our table to ask if we needed anything after they delivered our food. Amount of meat was small, in comparison to large portions of coleslaw...cabbage is usually pretty cheap.
I go to San Diego County on a regular basis to look at shopping centers I have helped clients purchase. Today I was in Fallbrook and drove to Vista to eat at When Pigs Fly for their ribs. Amber helped me with my order and the ribs were GREAT. Dry rub, the way I like them and they didn't need any sause. I'll be back.
amazing service and the food was delicious. thank you!

Amazing food! Cant wait to go back soon. It was very yummy!
Friendly and helpful staff. Food was prepared in a timely manner. Lots of seating options if you’re worried about personal space. I asked about the menu and the girl at the counter (didn’t get her name) was super friendly and offered me the lunch menu, and explained it would come with a side and drink like I wanted. I think she was working the counter and tables on her own, so it was nice to see even though she was busy, she was friendly and took her time to explain my questions. I visited yesterday 2/7/22 around lunch time. GREAT & FRIENDLY SERVICE! Thank you.
People were nice food was underwhelming, very basic, not good at all. The only person who seemed to enjoy the food was my son and he had a hot dog and french fries. On my way home I had to pull over for my daughter to vomit. I’m not one to leave reviews and negative ones at that but I feel like I waited my money. We will not return.Update: I’m going to have to miss work and possible take my daughter to the ER! She’s been vomiting non stop!
The ribs were amazing, staff were friendly and outgoing!!
If you’re in search of delicious bbq, this place is amazing! Meat is super juicy. Staff was friendly and great with my son. Offered him coloring and toys. Talked with him too. Great ambiance! $13 for a 1 meat, 2 side plate. $24 for a full rack of ribs with 2 sides — at When Pigs Fly BBQ.
