Great Asian delicacies in warm hospitable atmosphere.
Foods are homy and they have variety of choices such as different meat, vegetarian and seafoods.
The meals are priced reasonably low and their tea pots are yummy.

This is some of the best XLB up and down the entire west coast of the USA. I see others compare it to places like Din Tai Fung, but this is better. I've tried pretty much every dumpling restaurant I can find in California (SoCal and NorCal) and in Seattle and this place beats them all hands down.
The spicy pork dumplings and perfectly seasoned, giving them a little kick and an aromatic flavor that fills your mouth but not so spicy that it masks the flavor. Perfecting spiciness is an art.
The black truffle dumplings are mouthwateringly delicious, same with the crab dumplings. They aren't cheap, they are good, no...they are better than good, they are amazing.
The shrimp loofah's are also worthy of a mention, not an XLB but a delightfully flavorful dumpling with a wonderfully unique and chunky texture.
I usually order via DoorDash (in vast quantities 😂) but I got to eat here in person for the first time just before Thanksgiving. The restaurant itself is not huge, tables and seats are packed in and it can get very busy. The kitchen is located in the center of the restaurant so you can see your XLB being made. The staff are friendly, even if they are all rushed off their feet.
All-in-all these guys are artists, masters of their craft.
If you want artisanal XLB, dumplings and other delicious dishes this the place to go.

Absolute gem!
I’ve had quite a bit of dim sum in my day, and this is by far the best I’ve had.
We ordered a little of everything and were blown away by all of it.
You MUST try to chive pancakes, soup dumplings, and green beans.
Food came out quick, hot, and fresh!

The waitress here was extremely rude from the moment we walked in. She gave us a strange look when we asked for a table and later slammed the soy sauce tray on our table. When we asked for the check, she rudely said, “The check is just on the table,” without any explanation. We were confused because many restaurants place printed order slips on the table, so we simply asked as we normally do. Even if that’s their system, a polite response like “You can put your card here” would have been perfectly fine. The Sheng Jian Bao was good, but with service like this, I won’t be coming back.

Way too much MSG and VERY expensive for the portion size. I used to run several dumpling/dim sum restaurants in China. I’m not one to oppose the use of MSG, but this place uses way too much of it that makes me feel they are not confident in their food. Notice how much water you have to drink when eating the noodles or green beans - MSG should enhance the flavor but I can actually taste it. I had high hopes but was a bit disappointed.
The XLB is just okay - the wrap is fine but notice their filling inside. In my opinion, they use very cheap ingredients that I don’t think most people will notice except for those who grew up eating it. Same with the gelatin/soup quality. Maybe most people won’t notice but I’m surprised by some reviewers who are Chinese. Even from Shanghai.
Also in my opinion, the food is very expensive and the portions are small. The menu is also very limiting unfortunately.
I was hoping for it to be decent dumpling place, but I will move on and continue my search.

Overall, I found this spot to be a bit overhyped. The cucumber salad was very simple, just cucumbers without much flavor or sauce, and felt overpriced for what it was. The string beans were the highlight of the meal, with great flavor and a nice wok-fried texture. The pork soup dumplings were fine but underwhelming; I personally prefer the ones at Dough Zone nearby. The wings were solid, but the noodles didn't have much flavor. Nothing really stood out to make the experience memorable.

Really great dumplings (饺子). They even have the chives type which are so very delicious (韭菜饺子). Everything is so fresh, apparently made right there in the restaurant every day

Very different than the one over at Lakeshore in Oakland. The green beans were not eatable. The cucumbers were cut so big and slimy that they kept slipping off from your chopsticks. SLB skin is tough and dry to bite on. Extremely poor quality ingredients and cooking. Don't recommend this place.

So this place is a Shanghai dumpling place which means you bite the top of your dumpling and then you suck the soup out of the dumpling. My Shanghai niece friend likes it and so does her daughter so it can’t be bad I think it’s really good. there’s other things on the menu that are very Shanghai eat as well so if you like Shanghai needs food Shanghai East dumpling this is the place for you. Cheers.

Best Xiao Long Bao in the Bay Area and beyond. Juicy and flavorful. The skin held up well with the chopsticks “wiggle” test. Pan-fried pork buns were equally amazing with very hot soup inside. Great wok fire for the string beans, slightly crispy outside and tender inside. The boiled shrimp chive pork dumplings were also very tasty and chewy wrapping texture outside. The spicy sesame wontons were mouth watering. I loved the sauce so much I told the server to let me savor the sauce in the empty dish. I have visited multiple Ding Tai Fung locations and supreme dumplings for their XLB but I kept coming back to Dumpling Hour Walnut Creek for more. This place has the most consistent quality for XLB. There were few staff serving a full house and delivered excellent customer service. They kept up with clearing the table with empty bamboo steamers and dishes while refilling water in our glasses. Ordering was a breeze using the qr code on the table. Food came out fast enough for a very busy evening. Every table was filled around 6 pm Thursday night, including outdoor seatings. I was so sad that the jelly fish appetizer sold out today. Not the first time and won’t be the last. Best to go early before the lunch crowd if I can help it.
