Let me start with the good. Great host and service. Their beet salad is to die for. I've had other beet salads but this one is far superior. However, their Branzino was not good. It was over cooked and didn't taste fresh. It was one filet cut into three tiny pieces on top of three small dollops of mashed potatoes, green beans, and carrots. Odd presentation. My husband had the Cavatelli Meatballs. He thought it was okay, small portion, and the sauce was a bit sweet for his liking. The restaurant itself is modern, warm, and inviting but the loud accordion music didn't match the vibe and felt intrusive.

My only gripe is my cocktail (Manhattan) while it was crafted well & tasted excellent...was only filled to about 2/3. For $17 per, I expected better. Food was delicious & skillfully prepared. Waitress & wait staff were excellent & attentive. All orders were delivered in above average timeliness. Cleanliness was A+ I will definitely go back....La Fontaine is now my yang to Benvenuti.

Delicious food! Our only complaint is that we stated our preference for "still water", thinking that meant tap or filtered water; when our bill came we noticed we were charged for premium bottled water at 8$ and 8$ for a second one!!!! I think it was probably filtered tap water but I think they should be obligated to state that it is premium bottled water rather than just "still" water.

So disappointed. The service was slow with uninterested staff. The evening was not busy so there was no excuse for it. The Cesar salad was over dressed and had 3 leafs of lettuce. The bread was brought after our salads were eaten and taken away. The short ribs were underwhelming at best and the polenta and veggies were cold. And this was only my entree. My dinner mates had the same opinion of their food. I will not go back.

We were happy with the service and the food but the restaurant was so dark and somber. Not a great lunch environment. Dinner is more appropriate for a dark and quiet restaurant. The beet salads were delicious and the dessert menu was excellent. I had the profiteroles and my friend had ice cream. The noise level was very low as we were one of only three occupied tables. The other Walnut Creek location was sunny, bright and lively. Much mire fun for a birthday celebration and for lunch.

We always enjoy coming here. We tried a new appetizer for us, the pistachio-encrusted goat cheese with caramelized onions. It was excellent.

Our wait staff was a bit odd? Many offers of water but when S&P was needed it took awhile? My biggest complaint is a table SHOULD NOT be cleared when someone is obviously still eating? That's RUDE but so many younger staff don't seem to know that? Food always excellent and overall stil a great evening

Came for a birthday dinner. Great menu, but food was routine. Short ribs were salty. Pasta and meatballs sauce was very good, but pasta was pasty. Very good branzino. Excellent service. Stark open room with no warmth. The hard room surfaces reflected all sounds. Exceptionally noisy and unpleasant!! Will not be going back.

Sadly the food was bland to okay. Ambiance was fine, but overall it just was a mid experience. Both of our drinks were weak.

We hadn't dined in Walnut Creek for some time and were looking forward to trying a new place. We were not familiar with La Fontaine and decided to give a try. Overall this experience was simply awful. Service. We were the only diners at the time and there were 4 servers on the floor (mostly chatting among themselves or on their phones.) I mention this because we literally had to get up from the table twice to ask for some items. Absolutely no service awareness. Cuisine. The food was equally bad. Under cooked pasta and way too salty. For the price point not worth it at all. I would not recommend this restaurant. There are much better experiences in town.

Food was excellent. Service was...meh. Temperature and humidity inside restaurant was unacceptably high. Asked server to turn on/down AC, and felt a bit of cool air for maybe 10 minutes. $40 dollar lunches inside should not be accompanied with everyone's brows sweating. Dining chairs quite possibly were the most uncomfortable chairs I have ever sat in. Felt somewhat like a mild torture device. Just awful chairs.

Our Table of Six all ordered something different, and no one was disappointed! Food is amazing

This was my 3rd visit. 1st and 2nd visit were outstanding in all areas. This time, a Sunday night, the service was subpar and they were out of lamb chops which is what I was looking forward to. Ordered still water and was charged $8. I was surprised about that when the bill came. We were never asked if we wanted more focaccia. Hostess, and waitress were “lukewarm”. Did not add anything to our experience. Girl who brought bread and water didn't smile or say anything. We had mentioned it was our anniversary when making reservation, but that was never mentioned. Good was good but unfortunately not good enough to make up for the service.

Our dinner was delicious. The lamb chops were some of the best I've had and so were the short ribs and duck. Our waiter was energetic and friendly.
