The best turon! Just the right sweetness and the banana is perfectly ripe. Tita Girlie is a sweetheart. She reminds me of my auntie. So sweet and accommodating. I love kalahi bakery! Their pastillas is also yummy!
I've been going to this small store/bakery serving Filipino delis for over 25 years. I particularly love the chicharon, chicken empanada, crunchy Turon, and hopia. The Frontline servers are nice and friendly.
Popular items at this place are the baked empanadas and turon. If you are thinking of stopping by in the morning, on the way to work, they open at 7am but the empanadas are not ready until about 7:30am and the turons at 8:30am. I stopped by on a Friday morning hoping to bring empanadas to work. I am not from the area, changed my route but, left empty handed. I would have been so late to work (DTLA) if I waited till 7:30am. I wish that they would just change their hours to 8:30am...
