I recently visited Gaucho Grill in West Covina with a group of friends, and overall, we had a really nice time. The food was definitely the highlight - I ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection. The flavors were all really rich and delicious, and the portion sizes were generous.

The only reason I'm not giving Gaucho Grill a full 5 stars is that the atmosphere felt a bit...off. The restaurant was kind of empty. We also noticed that there wasn't a photographer on site to take our pictures, which was a bit of a bummer since we were celebrating a special occasion when others places offer photography.

Despite those minor quibbles, though, the food and service were both good .

Overall, I'd definitely recommend Gaucho Grill to anyone looking for a solid steak dinner in the West Covina area. Just don't expect a super lively atmosphere or any complimentary photos!

This was our second time eating at Gaucho Grill. Sadly, this will definitely be our last time. We ordered the shrimp appetizer and unfortunately they weren’t all clean, they still had the poopy vein on them. Yuck! The server was very friendly, but could have been a bit more attentive. It was 80 degrees outside and the restaurant was warm, we had to request for them to put the AC on, which they did. The food is flavorless and bland. For the price, we definitely expected more. Best part, was the live performer and empty parking lot.

The food is not good or tasty, and the salad was not made well. The flavors were off. It definitely was not freshly made, and the chicken felt like it came from the frozen meal that got microwave (dry and chewy), the side potatoes bland, and the salad taste like leftover mushy, zero flavor as well. The bread is cold, not fresh or warm. It was disappointing and the atmosphere blah. The decor is dark and dingy, sorry to say. However, there is plenty of free parking and to get a seat here. It was pricey for nothing yummy, even the drink was water down. I would not recommend this place.

Service was absolutely terrible. We were served steak without any knives. We had to ask for utensils every time, which is ridiculous! We were also served ribeye steak in which we had ordered medium. As we cut open into it, we were shocked and disgusted that it was undercooked and raw. Even the dark red part was cold! Our steak was taken back to be recooked, but as we resumed cutting and eating the steak, we found the steak to STILL be undercooked and raw.

The manager, Gonzalo was called to our table after our steak was undercooked for the second time. He didn't apologize, and instead gave BS excuses that the steak is too thick, and thus can't be cooked entirely medium. He didn't offer options to make it better for us. He didn't give us the refund for the terrible steak, and instead only took 50% of the price of the steak on our receipt. After disagreeing with this absurdity, Gonzalo argued that we "already ate half of the steak". Gonzalo was rude the entire time, especially when he had seated us. Gonzalo is a terrible restaurant manager who lacks customer service ability, and didn't care about properly resolving the issue committed by the restaurant.

We ended up leaving the restaurant disgusted, and left the unfinished steak after Gonzalo forced us to pay for the crappy food his cooking staff screwed up on. We're not eating at this place again as long as Gonzalo runs this crappy restaurant. We are also telling our friends and family to avoid this restaurant entirely,

I came here for LA dine in. This place has the best empanada I ever had. The arugula salad was pretty good with palm of heart. My chicken with fries were not bad. My mom‘s beef skewer was good, but the beef was a little overcooked.

The steak? Absolutely awful.

We were looking forward to dining here based on the glowing reviews and photos, but wow, what a letdown. Half the side dishes were out of stock by 7pm on a Saturday—seriously? We ordered the Prime Picanha, but what came out didn’t even look like Picanha. We expected a long wait for our food (it’s in the fine print), but when they told us one of our sides, vegetable, would take another 20 minutes? No thanks.

The meat itself was so chewy, bland, and overcooked. I’ve never experienced a steak this bad, which is surprising given it’s their specialty.

To their credit, the manager and waiter were polite and offered us a free dessert to make up for it, but it didn’t quite fix the whole “chewy steak” vibe. Definitely won’t be back.

Avoid El Gaucho Grill in West Covina

I had a deeply disappointing experience at El Gaucho Grill in West Covina. The restaurant is visibly dirty, with lamps above the tables caked in what looks like years of grime. It sets a gloomy and unappealing atmosphere right from the start.

The waitress, though friendly, provided terrible service. We ordered drinks, and they were brought sporadically—one here, another much later. I had ordered two beers—one for myself and one for a friend. My friend’s beer arrived, but mine didn’t show up until 15 minutes later when I had to chase down another waiter to resolve the issue. The waitress excused herself, claiming she was overwhelmed with tasks, but this doesn’t justify such poor service.

It didn’t stop there. The salads we ordered never arrived, and instead, the main courses were brought out all at once. When my children wanted dessert, the waitstaff vanished for extended periods, making the experience frustrating. At the end, the waitress brought the check, but I reminded her we were still waiting to order dessert. She hurriedly brought the desserts, followed by a revised bill.

To top it all off, the restaurant felt unwelcoming. Although they were supposed to close at 9:00 p.m., we felt rushed the entire time. By 8:32 p.m., they were already hurrying us, and when we left at 8:42 p.m., they followed us to the door, slammed it shut, and turned off the lights. It was incredibly rude and made us feel utterly disrespected.

The food itself wasn’t worth the prices they charge. Combined with the poor ambiance, subpar service, and overall lack of hospitality, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. We visited on January 1st, and it was a terrible way to start the new year.

Save your time and money—there are far better options out there.

They were out of steak when I showed up. Would have like to try anything steak related considering the type of place it is. The chicken skewers were good. Empanadas were okay.

A bit over rated for the price. The tomahawk was big but the taste was just OK. The stake was a bit chewie. Side dishes all looked and tasted the same flavor. Not impressed.

I came for a few drinks to watch the Dodgers game with a couple of friends, we were served by Germán. A very nice and charismatic guy who attended to us in a very attentive way.

I will definitely come back here to watch more baseball games or follow other sports

It was our first time eating Argentinian food and Gaucho Grill did not disappoint!! Our server German was very knowledgeable and his recommendations were amazing. From the appetizer, the wine pairing to the dessert! The dim lighting and warm colors of the restaurant create a very relaxing atmosphere. We’re definitely be coming back here. 100% recommended.
