First time to this Japanese restaurant, I have to say, weekdays are the best for dining in with less traffic/crowd.The happy hour specials are great as well if you want alcohol or appetizers. The food was amazing, sushi was on point, the grilled meats were perfect, just the right amount of marination.Dessert with the mochi ice cream topped it off! Both my waitresses Christina and Angie were professional and pleasant from beginning to end. Next time I shall ask them for recommendations for the best dining experience.Overall five stars for the ambience, cleanliness and great customer services. I shall come back!

Service was great, but I should add that we were there very early at 5:30pm.Dishes were delicious with beautiful presentation. I especially liked the shitake uni udon, soba branzino and the escargot. There were so many creative dishes I wouldn't recommend the grilled meats or karage. Both were good but there wasn't anything really unique about the taste. So I would suggest trying other items that are more "fusion." Also, recommend skipping the empanadas.

Was going to rate Himizu a solid 4 stars until about 45 minutes into my birthday dinner. Had to dock a star cause of how long it took for everything to come out. Food and drinks are great, especially on happy hour, but service and wait time can definitely be improved. They have potential. Hopefully they can make it a better experience for future diners.

I feel like people are sleeping on this place. Shimizu is a hidden gem and a great asian fusion resturaunt. I've actually been here twice. The first time I went was last summer for my birthday dinner with a friend. The service was great and food was delicious. I went again for my fiancée's birthday and we were surprised to find they had an awesome happy hour on Sunday! Service is great, food is delicious. We tried the coconut mango scallops, carpacio, Okonomyaki Brussel Sprouts, uni udon, and 2 rolls (which were bogo!) We thought everything was delicious. Our favorites were the scallops, capacious, and uni udon. We loved it and definitely would come back!

Himizu serves sushi and Japanese BBQ which is a great combination and a spot that I had been interested in checking out. I came here with my family on my birthday for dinner and we had a fantastic experience here. The happy hour specials are a great value for the money and the quality of the food we were served was delicious and the cocktails we got were refreshing! There were quite a few items ordered from the menu including the Yuzu Garlic Wings, Okonomiyaki Brussel Sprouts, & fresh scallops with yuzu. The wings were some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant and were packed with garlic flavor and had a nice hint of yuzu at the end. The Okonomiyaki brussels sprouts were rich and decadent with a runny egg in the middle and Chinese sausage and did feel like a unique fusion version of an okonomiyaki pancake. All of them are easily recommended! For our main entrees, we ordered several meats and seafood to cook. We got the calamari steak, marinated shrimp, skirt steak, ribeye, & ribeye and all of them were excellent and the presentation was quite elevated when they brought them out. The shrimp were quite large and well marinated. The skirt steak and ribeye had a good amount of fat and were quite tender and flavorful once cooked. The calamari steak was a unique way of eating calamari and I think it's my new favorite way of eating calamari now. The rolls came after and the black widow roll was an elevated spider roll and they were huge pieces with plenty of filling and the kyukyoku roll was just rich and decadent with wagyu on top with with toro, caviar, scallop, & uni. A flavor explosion. Service here was excellent and all the staff were attentive and helpful. The ambience was great and the interior was clean and beautiful. Overall we had a great dinner here and I recommend coming here if you are on a date or want to celebrate a special occasion like I did! An easy 5/5 spot!

- great customer service, servers were super friendly and helpful - restroom available - parking lot is plentiful, moderately busy on a Saturday evening (6pm) - modern, sleek aesthetic - reservations available 1. Udon garlic miso (4/5) - Would be perfect if the sweetness in the sauce was reduced a bit - Strong garlic flavor - Sauce is super creamy but gets heavy after eating for a while definitely share this! - Udon is perfect chewiness 2. Himizu combo (4.5/5) - more valuable to get the combo than just getting one type of meat (if you wanted to try multiple) - All the cuts were delicious and well marinated 3. uni butter salmon skin (4.8/5) - Smoky, light crisp on the salmon skin, very savory - It is a heavy roll so no need to eat it with sauce in my opinion, there's already a lot going on for the roll itself 4. tacos salmon tuna (3.7/5) - would've preferred if the seaweed salad was cut into smaller pieces inside, poke was good but didn't like this as much as I anticipated 5. Aburi shake toro (5/5) - so fatty, subtle smokiness from torched - sauces paired so well!! - definitely would get this again

If you can enjoy high-quality food without financial remorse, then run to this place. Everything looks good. Everything I've ordered is good. I usually just stop in and get an item or two bc the bill adds up fast. My suggestion is to go with a group, so you can try everything at once! This restaurant doesn't get too busy, which is great for large parties. Overall, it's a fancy, yet easy dining experience with attentive staff members. Remember...the meal will get expensive, but it's worth it. Salmon/Tuna Himizu Tacos These are tiny, but they scratch an itch you didn't even know you had. Himizu Oshizushi Roll Seared wagyu, spicy tuna, shiso, truffle shoyu, grated daikon, smoke trout roe? Every ingredient that makes the world a better place in one roll. That truffle infused soy sauce takes this to a whole new level. Quite possibly my favorite roll ever! Uni Butter Salmon Skin Roll This was really good, but the Himizu Oshizushi Roll does outshine it. ...update to come...I will be back...

I honestly don't remember what we got or the names beside the uni udon which was delicious. But to start off we got a lychee drink and it did not taste like alcohol at all, which was great lol. Then we got some pesto tacos (with salmon?) and that was definitely a 10/10! We also got some coconut cilantro scallops which was also a 10/10. Everything was really good! Service was good too, but just took a tad bit long to come out. Would return though!

Came here with the bestie on a Tuesday night around 6:30pm and there was luckily no wait. Parking was plentiful in a large lot and the inside was clean and didn't smell overly of bbq or smoke. She was craving meat so she ordered the Himizu combo which came with several cuts of meat and shrimp and I got the Nigiri and sashimi combo which also came with a California roll. The fish all tasted pretty fresh and I loved the presentation. Not the best sushi or Japanese bbq I had but I think the plus is having the option of both here. Prices were reasonable for what you get. Service was bit slow towards the end. We had to stare around for a good 5-10 minutes waiting to get the check and no one came by the table. I like the variety of the options offered so I think I would def try it again next time I'm in the area.

Himizu is a small place next to the meet fresh in west minster. Pretty fire, It's a more elevated take on Japanese/asian fusion. Kbbq set was good lots of variety of meat. Lobster and uni toast was super gas, and the scallops were super fresh. Definitely one of the nicer restaurants in the area. Would come back again.

My boyfriend and I couldn't decide if we wanted sushi or Japanese bbq, and I was happy to find a restaurant that had both! The food was everything and anything I ever wanted! We went during happy hour and were pleasantly satisfied with the great deals. Loved Angie, Ryan, Abe, and Ilyas they all took great care of us. This place not only has great food, and also great service. I wish I had more stomach space, so we will be back to try more items on their menu!

This place is gas. I used to drive to LA from OC to get some good uni pasta, but I don't think I have to anymore after finding out about this place. I also tried some seafood here which did not disappoint either. The oysters tasted fresh and I love that they come out already prepared so you don't need to add any extra toppings. They will provide them for you if you need, I asked. I have not tried their red meats yet but I will be back to try it after this good experience. The servers are very attentive and fun to talk to!

I've been hearing good things about this restaurant so wanted to give it a try. There were so many delicious sounding dishes on the menu so we had a hard time choosing which dishes to order. Our server came to our rescue and made some recommendations. He did not steer us wrong ! Everything we ordered was on point. Although I enjoyed everything, the himizu oshizushi roll was at the top of my list. The wagyu beef melted in our mouth like no other. I'm going to dream about that roll for awhile. Can't wait to be back!
