Location, location, location. We loved it and are returning in June. We plan on using it as our central location for 6 days of exploring the mountains. Hopefully we will hit the peak of flower season this time and conditions are good. We've been too early once and the flowers weren't open yet because of a late spring, then we missed the blooms because of poor weather. Hopefully the 3rd time is a charm. Irregardless the facility is a great place to start the journey around the area.Rooms: Not bad. We were in the old rustic cabins and then the newer river front ones next. Had a great time, met some fun families and made some friends.Walkability: Plenty of resort area to walk around on. Careful on the roads however

Awful place, don't go there thinking you will get a drink. Awful place, completely rude. They are technically 'open' but we stood there for 20 minutes and no one would help us. We even got a girls attention and she said yes we're open and nothing. Cannot think of anyplace worse I have been too in my life. I guess because we are not from Almont, they would not serve us a beer. We thought it would be like other small town bars and they would be nice. The people were absolutely rude. Will never walk in there again.

Great food and service. We were staying up the road and this was east to get to. Great ambience.

Went here for our Anniversary dinner this evening as we heard it was under new ownership and the food had drastically improved. I wish this was the case. The good: The Brussel sprouts were amazing, the side salad was OK, the french onion was sub-par.The bad: I ordered the $55 Ribeye (Medium Rare) with a double side of veggies and a side salad. I thought it was interesting the server wrote down nothing, but went with it figuring she was experienced. I ended up with a rare steak, like really rare, like still mooing, mash potatoes and my salad was forgotten. The server was nice and retrieved me a side salad and more sautéed vegetables upon request and offered to reheat my steak, but you can’t decide to heat up a steak after it’s been cut into several times, the juices are gone at that point and $55 for a reheated steak is a bit beyond what I’ll pay.The server did remove the steak off the bill and she was nice. Whomever cooked the steak needs to repay the owners and maybe some time learning the difference between raw and medium-rare.We really wanted to enjoy this establishment as there is an extremely limited selection of good food places in Gunny, but here we are. Another one crossed off the list.Back to The Dive we go. ;)

Ate at the restaurant after meeting some local friends. Read about our food & drink experience.Food & drinks: Ate at the restaurant after meeting some local friends. Incredible food and wine selection (recommend Bezel by the Cakebread Wineries from those in our group in the know) - had appetizers, burgers, onion rings, etc. YUM! Amazing for this remote a location. Worth the drive though.

It used to be a great experience going to the almont for breakfast, but things have drastically changed. The staff and everyone seems very unorthodoxized. No one ever bothered to check and see if I needed anything no one asked me if my food was good. Which this time it wasn't. All the servers seem extremely interested in what they were doing Not just at our table but at all tables. They sat us without menus we sat there for at least 5 or 10 minutes with no menus when as you're entering the building you're walking past the menu area and they don't even grab one for you. You have to ask for a menu I don't know things have just changed there it's not what it used to be.. no one seems to be on the same page in the restaurant..Truly disappointing I don't know what happened to the Almont as we used to know it ?

I've been here before and was a 5 star experience. Today, however it was a terrible experience. The server was unable to understand our orders. Ie we asked for hash browns well done ( which came with the entree) She brought 2 extra orders of hash browns. And charged for them to o. The coffee was truly undrinkable. One of my dining companions asked to taste mine ... his was the same. He said tasted like brewed old cigarettes. When a server came to see if I needed more coffee, I said yes please bring me a fresh cup. She took my nearly full cup to the kitchen and brought back the SAME cup of coffee just more full. I knew this cause original Cup had cream in it as did the replacement. We had to chase the server down to get a check. It was a terrible and expensive experience. So disappointing.

Had a great breakfast there. Sat outside, it was very pleasant. The service was very good. I especially recommend driving up Taylor canyon road that is right across the road.

The new ownership has done this place justice. Slightly more expensive but you get your money's worth and the food is outstanding. I left with an entire other meal. Excellent starters, excellent entrees, excellent cocktails, excellent desserts, and excellent service. You won't go home disappointed nor hungry. And they plan to make even further improvements. Do yourself a favor and eat here.Food & drinks: The cocktail menu wasn't overly long but they had all the classics I'd want and even some house drinks that I wouldn't mind trying. But for those of you who want a big selection they said they plan to add to it.For food the starter selection had several classics that I enjoy and the portions were two to three times what you get elsewhere. The entrees were excellent too and they plan to add to that is well. I'd be satisfied as is but for those who want more of a selection it's coming. The portions are big enough I went home with an entire other meal. Desserts are nothing to sneeze at either...save room.
