I just had a delicious afternoon coffee and an extraordinary people watching experience at the French Alpine Bistro. The service is extremely friendly and the menu looked intriguing enough for a future visit. My wife and I lingered at one of their outside tables for an hour enjoying the mountain views and the super fun non-stop people watching. Recommended

Do not miss this Aspen gem. Amazing food! Fabulous service and small, intimate feel with really cool decor. One of our favorites!

It was love at first site as I walked down an almost hidden stairwell. A dimly lit, rustic, fur trading French outpost style feel reminiscent of a place I went in Quebec. I sat at the bar which was small but fun. The beef bourguignon was splendid paired with a beautiful French Pinot I’ll be back.

What a lovely and thoughtful restaurant! The food choices were outstanding, and the service was literally spectacular. The entrées were pricey, but it is in Aspen so no one is surprised. Overall, we loved it.

Every time we come to Aspen for the past 6 years, the food is so delicious as always, we ordered the Foie gras that we have tried in other places, but here is the best in the world. The service is outstanding. Please keep doing the same.

Excellent food with high-quality and great flavors. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere made for a wonderful dining experience. It's a bit on the pricey side, but the quality of the food and the overall experience make it worth it for a special occasion.

We were recommended this place by a few people and decided to check it out. Unfortunately, the only thing good was the wine. Almost $60 for an overcooked thin ribeye and unseasoned fries… I just arrived from my flight and was too hungry to wait even longer for them to remake the steak. And on top of that, the server tried to tip herself 24% … underwhelming and disappointing. Go to meat & cheese for a proper steak and potatoes instead.

Blown away by French Alpine Bistro. Absolutely stunning charm - intimate, dark, and very European feeling. The staff was so accommodating and welcoming even when we didn’t have reservations.

For food, we got the fondue for the table with potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, apples, schnitzel, and crusty bread. The cocktail we got was called the Pink Panther and it was not only beautiful, but also delicious. It was such a fun dinner experience. The entrees looked amazing and the menu was vast. Overall, I’d go back here in a heartbeat, it was fantastic!

Came here for dinner, with a large group, and overall had a good experience, with a few standout dishes and a couple of notable misses. They were able to change our reservation from having one group of at an earlier time slot with the majority of the group eating 30 minutes later, to having our group all eat together, which was appreciated.

We shared a number of number of appetizers including the cheese fondue, which was really enjoyable for me- rich, smooth, and exactly what you’d hope for in an alpine setting. That said, the dipping sides (bread, green apple, and steak) felt pretty standard and didn’t quite match the quality of the fondue itself. Other members of the group were not as impressed with it as I was but I am an absolute cheese and fondue lover, so for me, this was a classic and tasty version, if not particularly creative or unique.

The foie gras pâté was a highlight of the meal. It was beautifully balanced with the lingonberry compote, which added a bright, slightly tart contrast that kept it from feeling too heavy. The brioche it was served on was especially memorable—light, soft, and just really well done.

On the other end of the spectrum, the French onion soup was a big disappointment and honestly one of the weaker versions I’ve had. The cheese on top had formed a dense, almost congealed layer that didn’t have that classic gooey pull, and the soup itself was noticeably under-seasoned. It was one of the few dishes we sent back largely untouched.

The salad grilled hearts of romaine salad we tried was good if a bit small and forgettable.

We also tried the caviar, which leaned more “fishy” than expected. Typically you’re looking for something more clean and briny rather than overtly fish-forward, so this felt a bit off. The potato chips were likely from a bag.

The scallops were excellent, though—nicely cooked with great texture and flavor, and definitely one of the stronger dishes of the night.

For dessert, we ordered a crêpe that tasted good overall, but the texture was slightly gummy and it didn’t quite land as a favorite for the table. Presentation-wise, it did get a laugh when it came out looking a bit like a roasted chicken leg.

The space itself is very cozy and leans heavily into a classic alpine bistro aesthetic. If you are looking for a classic mountain aesthetic with food to match, this place very much fits.
