As one ventures into the world of Blackhawk, known for its dazzling casinos and the allure of luck, Timberline Steakhouse stands as a delightful contrast to the whirring slot machines and card tables. It's a culinary haven where the gamble isn't on the menu, but rather in choosing what to savor from their exquisite selection.During my visit, I placed my bet on the A5 Japanese Wagyu steak, a decision that paid off handsomely. For the uninitiated, A5 is the highest grade given to Japanese Wagyu, a breed of cattle renowned for its rich marbling and tender texture. This marbling not only enhances flavor but also ensures a melt-in-the-mouth experience, much like hitting the jackpot on a lucky spin. The Wagyu steak at Timberline was a masterclass in flavor and texture. Seared to perfection, it balanced the richness of the fat with a delicate, beefy taste that was both luxurious and grounding. It was a symphony of taste, each bite reminding me why Wagyu, especially of the A5 grade, is held in such high esteem.Timberline's ambiance and service were on par with its food, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere away from the clatter of chips and the shuffle of decks. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of the meal was tailored to perfection. In summary, while Blackhawk might be a place to roll the dice, dining at Timberline Steakhouse is a guaranteed win. Their A5 Wagyu is not just a meal; it's an experience that stays with you long after the last bite. Whether you're riding high from the tables or looking to indulge in a sure thing, Timberline is a bet you'll be glad you made.Parking: Free parking at the Ameristar casino

Restaurant was in the casino and a cute set up for being so. We were sat in the center and it was empty so we asked to be moved to a booth, the lady gave us such a hard time it was laughable. We even said if she cannot move us it’s fine but booth preferred. She said that’s what the comments section is for in the reservation to where we had just put birthday. Our server was friendly but wow a smile or recommendation something would be nice lolFilet was delicious! I loved my strawberry peach salad! French Onion Soup was mediocre and not warm enough. It was very sweet that they gave us a complimentary birthday dessert.

We ate dinner here the last two evenings. Last evening Jessica was our server and she was fantastic, attentive and friendly. We had oysters and shared the seafood sampler with Caesar salad. That was phenomenal. The seafood was a little disappointing as it was frozen solid. We used the butter warmers to get thawed enough to eat so it ended well. This evening we ordered a wedge salad, well it was a salad but definitely not any kind of wedge. The tomatoes had 2 rotten ones :-( unexpectedly one went into and immediately out of a mouth. The salad was a few romaine leafs with the normal fixings you would expect. The Filet was tasty for sure but presentation was lacking! We had to ask multiple times for butter, crackers, little forks, etc... the server tonight was KK. Slow, not friendly, I'd would not say rude but curt seems to fit. In the end the crab was delicious. Definitely lost the luster of what this establishment once was. Hopefully it is just an off night.

Fantastic upscale resturant in the casino. I've eaten dinner here several times and always had a great experience. The food is very good. The wine list is extensive and the full service bar makes great cocktails. Although pricey, they provide a great dinner experience with delicious food. This place seems to be one of the most upscale resturants in the area.

I have been a vegetarian for 25 years came to Timberline restaurant because they had listed several vegan/ vegetarian items on the menu. Well,,,, told the waiter I didn’t eat meat he didn’t tell me the bread/rolls had bacon in them, then order the Brussels sprouts that were Marked vegetarian! Had bacon in them, when I ask waiter if there was bacon in them he said well they are cooked with a little bacon. Wow!

We are regulars of Black Hawk and have tried almost every restaurant in town but strangely had never been to Timberline Grill, so we decided to change that this weekend. We were greeted and seated as soon as we got there, smooth start that just got better as the night progressed. Our server, Jessica, was truly amazing. She got everything right and she did it with a pleasant attitude. Wait time for food wasn't horrible for a busy Friday night. We loved the ambiance of the restaurant, perfect setting for every occasion. The highlight of the night was the food, I had the Roasted Half Jidori Chicken, best roast chicken I've ever had, my wife had the Lobster Bisque and Fried Prawns. She only had great things to say as well. Highly recommend if you're in Black Hawk and you want tasty food!

I had high expectations for this restaurant, I really did. Unfortunately, they did not pan out well. For starters, my partner and I ordered soup. I got the French Onion and he got the Lobster Bisque. Both were mediocre at best. The flavor of the French onion soup was not very robust. For an expensive soup I expect more. My partner and I tried switching soups and I couldn't stand the texture of the lobster bisque because it was thick and had a very fishy flavor. For the main course my partner had a steak and I had the Mushroom Bolognese. He said his steak was like a King Soopers cut and he could get that at the store and cook it himself. My biggest disappointment was in my entree. It was described as having pasta with mushrooms and some other pieces of vegetables. What it turned out to be was that but not the way it was described. The mushrooms were chopped up into a tiny pate form which I found disgusting. I scraped off the whole thing and just ate the pasta. The vegetables that they claimed were included were sprinkled around the outside sparingly. Needless to say, I paid a lot of money for a plate of pasta. Honestly, I get really sick of restaurants failing to know how to make a vegetarian option for their guests. I understand that the focus is not on the vegetarian when you are offering steak, however, many people who do not eat meat a lot (or at all) get dragged into a steak restaurant with their friends or family. It's important to try to create something that appeals to those people even if that's not your focus. I think for that kind of money the Timberline Grill at Ameristar can do much better.

I would give 5 stars to the bartenders who are customer service oriented and attentive. Food is ok but the bone marrow is the worst we've ever had. Sour chimichurri on top? Really? The bone edges were burnt yet the marrow was still solid, pink and undercooked and still cold. The dressing on top completely killed the flavor of te marrow (horrible chimichurri). Clearly the bone was frozen and shoved into a high temp oven/grill that did not work. I am not a chef but can cook and have treveled. Reach ot to find out how it's really done properly. Slow roast, garlic parsley and maybe cilantro. That is all you need at most to taste the essence of the marrow.

Steak was good and service was great. Couldn't get a hot potato to save my life, but guess I didn't need the carbs anyway.
