We had a lovely time. It was a unique and cozy atmosphere and the food was delicious. The waitress answered questions and made suggestions for wine and tapas. The seafood pailla we received was a little overcooked. But tapas and drinks were perfection. They seem to have some affordable and fun specials, posted on OT.
Strange and unpleasant dining experience. Our desire to move to an empty table closer to the fire rather than being by the toilets turned the waitress hostile, and after 25 mins of being actively ignored, I asked her if we could get a waiter, and was angrily told there were only two waiters and then ignored for 10 more minutes (we were the only table without service in the whole restaurant with people who came after us already on their first course before we got a waiter, so it was clear we were being “punished”). When we finally got drinks after 45 mins, one of the four drinks was wrong. Food was average. When paying, we learned tip was automatically included, which explained a lot. Good luck if you choose to dine here.
This was the first time at Cafe Aion. We had high expectations. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed. The service was excellent, as was my mezcal cocktail, but the food was merely good. We weren't too hungry so our opinion comes from a very limited sampling. However, the dishes were fairly pricey, so I don't think we'll give it another chance.
PERFECT New Year's Eve at Cafe Aion. While the 4 course NYE special was very enticing we decided to have the WEDNESDAY paella and bottle of Spanish wine special. Such an inviting and warm staff and ambience. While many Boulder dining restaurants set time limits and hefty upfront cancel fees within 24 hours of dining, Cafe Aion shines above them all with a true Spanish cafe feel.
The food is always excellent - treat yourself to the mushroom appetizer! 😋 Sunday half-off bottles of wine is a bonus!
The food was great. The room was cozy. Really good paella and mushroom appetizer. Small but good wines by the glass. Not many tables so an intimate dining feeling
I dine here the week prior on Thursday and everything was fantastic. Ordered some of the same dishes but they were disappointing. The beef bourguignon had two 1-inch cubes of beef. That's all. Two.
The Chef is very creative and he really puts his heart into the recipes. The trout was excellent.
The staff were incredibly friendly from the moment we walked in and very accommodating with our last-minute reservation change. Even though we had an extra adult join us, they managed to seat our group right away. Everyone was patient and attentive the woman at the bar was especially thoughtful, quickly coming over to offer a lidded cup for my toddler. I ordered the paella with a few modifications due to food preferences, and they were more than happy to make the adjustments. As our group trickled in and we caught up with one another, the staff worked seamlessly around us, taking drink and tapas orders without ever making us feel rushed. They checked in often, refilled drinks, and brought out food promptly. Overall, it was a wonderful experience I'd highly recommend this place. The food was excellent; we especially loved the hummus, truffle fries, trumpet mushrooms, and beef ragu gnocchi. Every dish was delicious, and the drinks were fantastic too.
The food was not hot and the steak that was supposed to be medium was well done and that was kind. Clearly the chef was not paying attention. Disappointing.

Love the cauliflower appetizer. I had steak frites wife had hummus with a shrimp app. We shared peach crème brûlée. Good drink selections. Service was friendly and attentive.
Cafe Aion never disappoints. It is one of my go to restaurants while in the Boulder University area and a favorite overall within Boulder County and surrounding towns. The food is delicious, masterfully prepared, and beautifully presented. Place an order ahead of time for one of their signature paella dishes if you cannot wait the length of time it takes to create a masterpiece. The service is wonderful and the restaurant's ambience is inviting and relaxing. I have too many favorites to list them all but if you love mushrooms, the Trumpet Mushroom tapas is a must. I wanted to drink the remaining sauce. Their hummus, papas bravas, and Brussels sprouts small plates are all wonderful, too. The Aion burger with Brie and bacon is one of my favorites. Last night I had the house made gnocchi ragu which was decadent and a wonderful take on traditional bolognese. The restaurant is small and fills up quickly, so definitely book a reservation. Now!
lovely ambiance, I love the banquette seating at some tables so can sit close to my boyfriend on date night ! bouef bourgeon was fantastic and they have interesting cocktails

Best food on the hill and Mellow ambience. Sort of inconsistent kitchen hours and often closes early. Took over an hour to deliver our entrees but the food was excellent. Understaffed for how busy it was on a Sunday night. I'm a regular there and love their food and the staff is usually excellent but have had several occasions when they weren't.
