preserving Tom's Tavern at least a bit, with interesting selections

Sadly, this experience did not meet expectations. A six-ounce filet cost $67, with no sides included — everything is extra. The portion was small and the taste was average at best. The quality simply did not justify the price. Very disappointing overall.

It's a stiff competition between the food and the service on which is more amazing. Plus they have a wide selection of WeldWerks beer available. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Boulder.

The service was exceptional. Went on a Wednesday and had no trouble getting a great table.
Haely the hostess was warm and wonderful, and Susie, our waitress gave us a tour of the place, since the space is beautiful: huge paned windows, brick interior, original (seemingly) wood floors, and downstairs, a club-like feel to the space. All good - service, food, and the busboy, whose name I didn't get, was efficient and not intrusive in the least. All good!
Love love love SALT. Delish food, gorgeous wines, and the staff are spectacular: professional, friendly, efficient, knowledge and welcoming.
the waiter was super nice and we were seated the second we walked in. loved this place would go again the tiramisu was awesome.

Everything was super good. Just small portions for the price. But thats just the way it is now most places.

SALT was underwhelming. I ordered a tenderloin and my husband ordered roasted chicken and polenta. He thought the chicken was good but his polenta was cold, and my steak was only decent. What annoyed us the most was that our bill showed that the steak was $8 more expensive than it listed on the menu, and the wine was $2 more. We called them out on it and they fixed the steak price, but this shouldn't even be an issue in a nice restaurant. Double check your bill if you go so you don't get ripped off.

Haven't been to Salt in awhile. Our food was quite good. Scallops were great. Had a hard time getting one person's steak to medium but finally got it taken care of. Yukon potatoes were great. Disappointed only two mocktails and no non-alcoholic spirits. Seems like the NA trend is a big one and looked forward to trying creative NA cocktails. Maybe next time the NA choices will improve. Server was friendly and on time.

This is an extremely solid restaurant, but a cut below. Frasca and the Flagstaff House. While the steak was not overcooked, it was a 4 oz steak and not evenly cooked. Parts were medium. One side was medium well, one side was medium. Wagyu deserves an even cook. When dinner arrived, utensils had not replaced. The food runner quickly fixed the situation. There was also no salt cellar on the table. Initially. This was addressed after we brought it to their attention. Everything else was excellent. This is an excellent experience, it is not an outstanding experience.
Gave SALT another try since it is so centrally located in Boulder along Pearl Street. So glad we did, we had fantastic service and the food was delicious and fresh. So happy to find a great spot to go to dinner when visiting Boulder.
I had an extremely uncomfortable dining experience at salt. I felt a general malaise and discomfort from both staff and patrons. My server was extremely blunt, short, and overall disrespectful. She refused to give eye contact, pleasantries, and any sense of a pleasant dining experience. I overall felt like I was being both judged, and ushered out. The turnover was absolutely ridiculous, we saw people sat and turned over at the bar quicker than we got our drinks which we ordered them when we sat down. They forgot sides, and sauces for our main course. I genuinely feel like I was being judged and discriminated against by my choice of dining partner. We were a two female party with heavy, tattoos and piercings, and I felt like our service reflected that.

Good food and service in a vintage building on west Pearl St. Try and get a table downstairs for the ambience.

The servers were quite pleasant and the atmosphere very pretty. The cool breeze from the open air seating actually feels quite nice when mixed with the ambient noise of the Pearl Street crowds that walk by.
I'm writing this review in hopes it reaches those staff members so they can hopefully escape whatever evil contract HELL they have been forced into which binds them to this restaurant.
I got one of their pricier steaks and let me tell you...
If you happen to be in the area and desperately want steak, I'd highly recommend just looking for the nearest dumpster and fishing something out of that before you take a single bite out of whatever MONSTROSITY this place will serve you.
Now I'm not sure if the point of their steaks is to strengthen your jaw (I've heard of this mewing thing some kids are doing???) but I thought at one point I had been served straight chewing gum.
Imagine paying nearly 2-3x the price of a Texas Roadhouse steak and being served something of equivalent quality to a car tire that's been roasted over an open, gasoline flame.
Truly an incredible and mind-expanding experience.
