Have spent several New Year's celebrations at the fabulous Boulderado. This will be the last for awhile. The restaurant and bar were not prepared for the evening. We were seated for an hour before menus were brought over. Felt sorry for the couple of wait staff members that were there. Food was just so-so when it was finally served. Could not wait to get out of there. Food and drinks were comped (a plus) but overall, not a good experience. Stay away on busy days.
We had an excellent experience at Spruce. We went 4 days after Christmas and the building was very festively decorated. The food was excellent. Two of us had the salmon with lentils and two had the duck. Everyone loved their meal. The service was excellent ( thank you Max) and for a great meal the prices were good. They have great cocktails and a nice wine list as well. Overall it was a fantastic meal.
Our waiter, Max, was outstanding. He was professional, friendly and very accommodating. He saved what started out to be a most unpleasant start to the evening. Despite a request for a booth in the reservation, there was none and we were seated at a table that must have been the worst in the house, facing the swinging open door to the kitchen. When I asked the hostess to reseat us on the porch where many tables were open, she told me that they were reserved! We waited over 20 minutes...
