Definitely a must visit if you are near Boulder. Maddie was very helpful at the entrance and Kate was very helpful when taking our orders. The atmosphere is wonderful and the teas are delicious. A unique experience!

This is the most ridiculous place to have dinner if you are even remotely a foodie. These people are clueless about fine dining. The wait staff are dressed well, and the setting is nice, and that's about it. The food was bland and unimaginative (there were three of us, and we ordered three different dinners). A "glass" of wine here is like half a glass anywhere else. This is easily the most disappointing restaurant in Boulder I have eaten in for > $ 35/person. I should have read some of the 1-star reviews before I made the mistake of eating here. My recommendation? Take a peek at the woodwork and eat somewhere else.

As a place that is supposedly a teahouse, the tea wasn't very good, and I didn't feel like it was meant to be even a secondary focus of the experience beyond the extensive tea list.
I visited for a late tea and lunch, and I will say the restaurant and atmosphere side of this place is very good, with good casual-upscale americanized international food offerings.
The tea though, an unflavored White Peony (Bai Mu Dan), was very weak. A whole pot of tea only comes with ~1g of tea leaves, and the leaves were clearly stored improperly and had picked up the aroma and flavor of savory cooking spices, which clashed with whatever sweet fruity and floral notes I might have been able to pick up from the weakly brewed tea. This is a problem that an establishment that specializes in tea should know to avoid as it is a known issue that tea will pick up aromas from other herbs and spices, which is why teas have storage guidelines in the first place.
As a tea enthusiast, I was disappointed and feel for this place to really be called a teahouse, especially one with such acclaim, the quality of the tea needs to be addressed. As a foodie and enjoyer of art and history, however, it was an interesting experience, but the tea really makes me hesitate to call it a good experience. Despite the heritage and this place being a cultural institution in Boulder, it being a traditional teahouse was one of the main reasons I came in, and in that aspect, Dushanbe fell flat.
If you're in Boulder and want a quality cup/pot of loose leaf tea with plenty of choices, there is another, better option just down the street.

Place was unique. The finish on the inside of the teahouse was ornate. An interesting concept right out of The Great Gatsby to move / replicate a teahouse lock-stock-and-barrel from Asia to Boulder.
Wide variety of food options on the menu.
Very loud inside.
Go there for the tea experience in a unique setting.

Fantastic place for a calm morning. They take great care on each cup of tea depending on what you order. They also have a robust list of tea infused cocktails that are to die for.

Dinner, drinks and service were exceptional. The bartender chatted us up, which we enjoyed a great deal. The chef Ryan came out and told us about the menu, then served us our meals himself. The food was AMAZING. This is the best meal we’ve ever had in Boulder!

I have always liked this place. We recently took a friend from out of town here, along with his new girlfriend. It turns out she is a tea enthusiast, so not only is the food, service, and atmosphere great, but the tea selections, which are the best I have seen, were a bit hit!! Thanks!!

Visited on the afternoon of Dec. 28, 2024. Waited for nearly 90 mins for a table for two inside. Did some gift tea shopping while we were waiting. The bartender who checked out for us asked if we checked the price tag of the tea as it cost $50…what does it mean Sir? You expect customers who come for a $200 meal not being able to afford a few boxes of tea?!?! Come on Dushanbe! You should be better than this.
If it’s because it ever happened to someone else, please have a sign somewhere in the counter so it doesn’t cause any misunderstanding. I know some customers think the food is not cheap for its quality. However, you are aware that 99% of the customers who walk into your restaurant know they can afford it, right?
Thanks for your gentleman’s ‘kind’ remind. A bit more customer service training won’t hurt your business.
