This little gem of a spot is tucked away, in a small shopping center, on a small street, in an older part of town. They've expanded to take up three storefronts, so they have ample seating, and a full bar, usually with some futbol or something on the flat screen. The menu is huge, and includes items from several regions of mexico. Whether it's some enchiladas, gorditas, or a skirt steak, smothered in cheese, there's something for everybody who loves Mexican. Because of its location, it's usually not busy at dinnertime, so it's a great choice for a weekend, when more visible restaurants are swamped. They get a lot of lunch and takeout business, as well, so calling in an order is no problem. I'll be sure to add photos, next time I go, but my hubby and I have had pollo poblano, enchiladas, gorditas, carne a la tampiqueña, and more, and all of it has been delicious. I try to order something different, every time, although the enchiladas tricolor are a staple that I can always rely on. The same server usually waits on us, and is very friendly and polite. 4 stars instead of 5, because they seem to be a little short-staffed, atm, last time we were there, we had to wait a while for our food. When it came, though, it was worth it. Huge portions, very good prices. I'll be back again, and again.

I've been to the one on Woodmen and York three times.....some of the best chile rellenos I've had from anyone.....crispy and green chile is great and not too hot.....will definitely come back.....there is one over south east just off Pikes Peak by the Stargazers music venue....it's bigger and one of my waitresses said it was even better....live Mariachi...

Wow ? this place is the truth! Absolutely fantastic food and the service was outstanding! I had the Carnitas burrito and had them spice it up with some diced habanero and boy was it tasty. The carnitas were jucy with a crispy skin and full of flavor. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their menu. If your in/driving past North CO Springs I highly suggest you stop in if you like authentic Mexican food.

Why do so many people say La Carreta is good? Yuck. We went to the Iowa location today for Father's Day. It wasn't busy. Service was slow. All the food was only party warm, some was underdone, other thing were burnt. Everything was tasteless. When the food was served (one person a a time), we had to wave a server down to get silverware. The green chile was lumpy (with flour?). Even the salsa was bad; it tasted like tomato sauce relish. We can get better Mexi food at Taco Bell.

We went to eat there this last Saturday and nothing was good. Service was beyond poor, they didn't have half the things on the menu and then they were charging more than the menu price and when I asked why we were getting charged different. The girl had an attitude and said well the computer has it at a higher price. No.. I will pay what the menu says. Get your menus changed and get servers that know how to do their job.

Really great find. We are visiting from Arizona where we have lots of Mexican dining choices. Extensive menu reasonably priced. Chile relleno was perfect. Red sauce is home made. Great service. Gracias.

stopped by and picked up enchiladas and a burrito. excellent service and the food is delish! just like Grandma made. my Grandma was from chihuahua, Mexico and this is the best Mexican I have had in Colorado springs. I've tried many restaurants, but this one is excellent!! don't miss out! highly recommended!!

Why wait for a great meal when you don't have to, at La Carreta you don't have to wait to feed that gut.You'll get excellent service and great food and plenty of alcoholic beverages available.So come on satisfy your Mexican comida craving just the right prices.
The food was pretty gross, salsa tasted like ceviche and even the dessert was hard and gross...have tried here twice and won't be again.

I ordered dinner for my family last night it was outright disgusting I used to work at a la carreta so I know what the food quality should be my deep fried chimichanga was definitely not deep fried my wife's enchilada plate well I don't know what that was but it was disgusting my children's tacos which we're supposed to be hard tacos were soggy and disgusting I'm appalled my palate was shocked last night and may take time to recover save your money there's better Mexican food out there
