Bistro Barbés was the ideal place for a date night, special occasion, or simply just a place to treat yourself. The food was delicious, the wine was delectable and the chef was a delight! Consider yourself blessed if you get a chance to order the duck leg confit. Will be recommending this to all our friends!
Bistro Barbes delights with distinctive flavor profiles that are perfectly balanced through the meal. The space has a calm and relative quiet that fosters conversation and conviviality. The remarkable service results in pacing that is perfect to fully enjoy the 4-course tasting menu and wine pairings. This is a very special experience to be treasured.
We made a last-minute reservation without doing much research, and I'm so glad we ended up here. We were greeted by the host/waiter/chef/owner, took a seat and discovered they have a single tasting menu with wine pairings if you're inclined. Dinner went smoothly, with my wife asking for some accommodations to a couple of courses, which were no problem. Dessert was the highlight of an entirely enjoyable meal.
Outstanding quality of food and service! Amazing how only one person can run a restaurant like that. You are never without a drink or water, food is served in a timely manner. Lovely dining experience!
Great experience at a truly fine dining establishment. Tucked away on a neighborhood street is what has made o be one of Denver's hidden gems. This one man show is a wonderful and professional of great food and service. A win pairing that's carefully thought out makes for a memorable experience. Highly recommend this spot if you want a special meal. Thank you Jon I will definitely return for more.
A very special, hidden gem. Located in a very quiet neighborhood, chef Jon gave us a memorable experience and delicious food. Plenty of food was provided for each course and the wine was great. Highly recommend if you are visiting or looking for a great dinner spot.
If you love a culinary experience - this is your place. Chef Jon is a one-man show, serving every table a tasting menu of beautifully plated French food with North African influences. This small cafe is not a "see and be seen" place, it is more charming than that. Treat yourself to this neighborhood gem for a special date night!

This place is amazing, no qualms. I left this place feeling like I had eaten at a very talented friend’s home.
Food was elegant, interesting and served in good portions.
Dining room is unassuming and very comfortable.
Service is remarkable - friendly and attentive, and also the same person who seems to do everything in the restaurant, from polishing glasses to cooking your entree.
I’ll be back with friends and family to be sure.

The four-course set menu brought together flavors from Morocco, Rajasthan, Spain, and France in a harmonious meal that always delighted. The sunchoke agnolotti combined warm and cool, silky and crunchy, spicy and refreshing. We appreciated the fingerbowls and the invitation to glean the last of the duck confit from the bones....it was outstanding! Being served by the chef is a treat and adds to the very personal, welcoming atmosphere. The wine pairings with each course complemented and accented the food well.
Everything was delicious, well executed north african inspired french cuisine. Even more impressive and unique is that the chef was the only person running the place, and service was nicely paced for someone without any backup. Will be back with friends.
This was an amazing experience. We were able to chat with the chef and owner of Bistro Barbes! The menu was creative and delicious with perfect wine pairings. I will definitely return.
Such a great evening! Dinner was fantastic! Would go back again and again. Highly suggest trying this restaurant out.
