Excellent first time dining there even though we have lived in the neighborhood for years. John does a great job, the portions are generous and the menu very thoughtful and creative. Plus the crispy skin on the duck confit was spectacular! Highly recommend.

Wow such an exceptional experience. We found an absolute gem in Denver! Intimate little bistro with delicious food, fabulous wine pairings, and a passionate chef. We felt like we were tucked into a little bistro in Paris. We will definitely be back.
Amazing food and great service from a one man show (the chef is also your server and the only employee). My wife is French and we typically shy away from French restaurants because of the traditional stuffy vibe of a lot of money and not a lot of food (which is very not French), but Bistro Barbes does not disappoint. Sooo

It was our second time to Bistro Barbes and it did not disappoint. The food is absolutely delicious and extremely well presented. We especially liked the braised beef short ribs which was so tender and the sauce was divine. It is a small dining area that is nice and quiet so that you can easily talk to your dinner companions.

Without being too "superlative" in my review, Bistro Barbes is simply elegant, enchanting, and gastronomique... Chef Jon excites the palate with a wonderful and creative flair of classic flavors that are savory and sophisticated, leaving the tastebuds dancing and yearning for the next course. The wine pairing is flawless.

Outstanding meal, but not as good of an experience from last time we were here pre-pandemic. Felt bad that the chef was literally doing everything on New Years Eve - hosting, cooking, serving, clearing dishes, etc... While we appreciated all of the chef's hard work and incredible cooking skills (and surviving the pandemic), the service and overall experience felt stiff, cold and robotic. We'll try again in a few months and hopefully they have more help on hand.
