Most friendly staff, food is always great. Recommend this place for breakfast.
This place is great! I am so happy we got around to trying it. I had a smothered breakfast burrito, and my husband had the French toast. Both were delicious. Despite the steady stream of customers, the food came quickly and was nice and hot. They kept the coffee topped off, and there's also a self-serve station.

Based on the reviews, The Grumpy Egg Cafe is a cute local small business, not a chain. The environment is amazing and lovely, with tons of different coffee cups that make it homey. The staff is always friendly, with a happy energy, and the lady behind the counter is super friendly and welcoming. The breakfast food is simple, super affordable, and always fresh and served quickly. The food is tasty, with bacon that is perfectly crisp and potatoes that are seasoned and crisp. The cherry donut is so good, and the doughnuts are fancy. The coffee station is awesome with different options for creamer and coffee syrups. The yogurt bowl is outstanding in presentation and taste. However, be careful ordering online as the prices are higher than in the store. The green chili tastes like straight black pepper. The half order of the French toast is $4 in store. The smothered burritos are incredible, and the fresh donuts are a highlight. The food is decent, cooked well, and on par with other restaurants in the Thornton area. It is a local gem and the go-to spot for what one would eat at home for only an extra couple bucks.
