We've hosted a few events here before, and every one of them has been a great time! People love the food, the staff was incredible to work with and the atmosphere is top notch!

Service wasn't great. The food wasn't as good as previous visits, but the drinks were on point. Which is what we were there for. Drinks and to socialize. I'll be back anyways ??‍♀️.

My sis was in town and commented that it was the best service she had experienced in Denver all weekend.

My son and I ate here yesterday, Easter Sunday, as a treat. This was a totally underwhelming meal for an astronomical price. I am carnivore (diabetes) and specifically requested no potatoes, chips or bread with my meal. I ordered the chilaquilles and it came on a huge pile of tortilla chips, and all the meat and sauce had soaked into the chips so it was hard to separate out. The quac was so loaded with jalapeno juice as to be near inedible. The queso, very expensive, was only a small amount and I am quite sure the base was Velveeta. My eggs had pieces of shell in them. On top of that. we were automatically charged a $20 tip, which I managed to change to a lower amount. The service was good and the staff were friendly so they get the stars. But, and not the restaurant's fault, a few tables away a woman 3 sheets to the wind was talking so loudly, with such foul language and subject matter, our ambiance was stolen. My bill came to $76! There should be 3 $$$ instead of 2. My son's verdict, "Mediocre at best." I was not planning on leaving a review, much less an unfavorable one, but it was bothering me still the next day, that I felt I wasted my money. Maybe we were there on an off day, as the place was packed, and I see many 5 star reviews. It's just that such an expensive meal should have been spectacular.

So many of us leave reviews when things are sub par, but I wanted to leave a review here, because our experience was exquisite !!Since Covid, I rarely feel “wowed” by good food or service — and El Jefe delivered both incredibly well. Marco was our server and we also befriended Jesse (GM & bartender). The drinks were delicious … and for a $15 cocktail, weren’t full of mixers. The queso was amazing and the plantain French toast was a fun and unique dish. We learned about the chef’s homemade mole & can’t wait to go back for dinner!! Highly recommend.

Excellent service and excellent food.Really can’t say enough good things about the service. They were super busy but the waiter was so attentive but not overly so. Just the perfect balance. The queso was excellent, and the guacamole was the best we’ve had at a restaurant. The birria ramen was excellent , as was the quesa birria. Slightly on the salty side but not so much that I’d rate it any less than 5 stars. The chicken plantain quesadilla was a great blend of sweet and savory. all around great experience.

I highly recommend this place, the food was fantastic and the service was great. I loved the brussels sprouts and the mushroom tacos. The cocktails were wonderful as well. I will be back for sure!

I got to experience this gem on National Margarita Day! I had their spicy margarita, which was perfection!! Not too spicy, just how I like it! Their chip and guac is some of my favorite!! I also had their fish tacos, which were yummy! The service was excellent and I can wait to go back because I want to try the ceviche and the chicken tortilla soup! The decor and ambience is super fun too!!

Couldn't handle the Friday night crowd. Hostess and waitress disappeared. Drinks were late and mediocre. Appetizer was cold. I guess these guys are too cool to provide good food and service. There are plenty of other Mexican food options in the Denver area.

El Jefe is just a great place to go! The food is delicious, the service is always good and charming, the ambience is comfortable but interesting at the same time. I had the winter salad, a combination of arugula, dates, radish, roasted squash and a balsamic glaze. Delicious! (It would be great with the addition of pepitas.)

Our Friday family favorites! A chance to catch up after a busy week going different directions and come together for a delicious family meal and actually get an opportunity to chat with our teenage children!
