I have been going here for decades and today may be the last time. $26.30 OTD for a dozen tamales that just aren't as good as they used to be.

I grew up here in Colorado on these tamales. I now live in California but every time I come back to Denver I must stop to get tamales. The owners are always funny and welcoming and in the 40+ years of coming here I've never once had a bad experience. 11/10 would (and have) recommended to EVERYONE.

Very polite service and great masa on the tamales. The downtown location is also very convenient for me. My only criticism would be that I wish the tamales were a bit more stuffed, but the masa is so good it nearly makes up for it. I would definitely come here again though

The customer service here is absolutely fabulous. I walked in and was immediately greeted, and greeted with the most kind and sweet tone. Another staff member was helping and older woman next to me test flavors to see which ones might be too spicy for her. The breakfast burrito was excellent. The flavor was fantastic. My only complaint was that is was a bit small for the price.

Walked right in and immediately was met with warmth and kindness. The tamales were just a bonus! Grabbed two red tamales (less spicy) and immediately ordered a dozen frozen to go. Authentic people, food, and business!

These burritos give me life. They give me wings. They lift me from the wreckage of my earthly concerns and cradle me in a tortilla-wrapped guarantee of transcendence. Surely, they were sent from heaven, or if not, then heaven itself must aspire to their flavor.
The women of La Popular are alchemists of comfort, artists of the tortilladora. Their cylindrical creations are not just nourishment, but benediction. The rice, the beans, the cheese, the chile, they melt together in such holy union that I nearly wept crossing the street back to my apartment.
I have returned two days in a row. I will return again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, in perpetuity, until time folds in on itself and the burrito and I become one. And when death comes to collect me, I will go willingly: burrito in hand, smiling, knowing that in the afterlife, these divine parcels await me still. For they are heaven-sent, after all.
