I lived in this area for 4 years, and have gone by this place countless times without ever going in. This morning I skipped breakfast and decided it might be a good time to go in and see what they were all about.
I can honestly say that the only disappointment I had was that I hadn't gone in sooner. This food was amazing! I got the fried chicken and plantains - sorry, I don't speak Spanish and I forgot what it's called on their menu. What I can tell you is that the chicken was fresh and came out piping hot. It pulled right off the bone, and was literally one of the best fried chickens I've ever had. And the plantains with the sauce they gave me - wow! If you're like me and live in the neighborhood, but avoid it because of the stigma, stop!
Go in, I promise you will not be disappointed. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

The street outside may look a bit uninviting, but don't let that stop you from giving this place a try. The service was warm and welcoming, and the Carne Guisada I had was absolutely delicious.

This place is awesome! Food made with love, the most important ingredient. I’ve had takeout a few times now and loved every bite. The first time I was sick and needed soup it was perfect and huge! The sopa de pollo has a whole chicken quarter in it and comes with rice and tortillas. The prices are fabulous and everything is made from scratch. Next time I’m going to eat there and try the whole fried tilapia.

I ordered Baliada specials with meat and they charged me the price and when I got home the baliadas did not have meat, I called the business and they told me that they did. When I, the customer, opened the bag and it didn't have any meat...it was honestly a robbery...he is happy to eat baliadas after so much time for this disappointment. They didn't even offer me a refund. Awful!
