Can't believe I found fantastic Creole food in the Denver! Food: 5, Atmosphere: 5, Service: 5, Value: 5 I've been to this place twice: once when it was still Sassafras and once today after the transition to Exile Kitchen. The place has a comfy, cute interior ! However, I wish the parking around the area was easier and wish there was outdoor seating so we could bring our dog! The food both times was AMAZING (although the second time I think was better after the transition!). The beignets here are absolutely fantastic - they came out piping hot and fresh and are thick and doughy on the inside very similar to the famous ones at Cafe du Monde! They are also a great price - $5 for three large beignets! We got the catfish platter which also came out very hot and fresh. The catfish portion sizes are great and the fish was flaky and moist with a flavorful, cornmeal crust that provided a great texture contrast. It also comes with a choice of two sides - we love their red beans and rice so we got a double portion! It is very smoky and flavorful with tons of flavorful ham-hock meat and sausage in it. Overall, one of the gems that we have found looking for good food in Denver! Have been craving good Creole food since going to New Orleans and SO happy we have found a place in Denver to go to!

We walked in around 10 without a reservation and sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and offered a sample of one of the bloody Mary's when I asked how spicy it was. We had two different bloody Mary's and they were delicious as were the toppings. The fish and grits was delicious but a little on the salty side since it is blackened. My husband had the biscuits and gravy breakfast and that was good too. We will be back. Don't miss the drink flights.

Amazing food and impeccable service! For once, a great Cajun restaurant in Denver! Thank you Christal and Sydney for the excellent service and awesome drinks. Can't wait to return.

This place was great! The blackened chicken mac was fantastic but if you're not a fan of stinky cheese you're not going to like it. The homemade hot sauces were awesome too, I couldn't decide which one I liked more. There were several things on the menu that looked really good so I'll definitely be back!

Flavor: CService: BTea: BSolo dining: BI'm sad to say that this place was a letdown. Our server steered me wrong with the breakfast Mac and cheese. The creations are unique but nothing impressed me that I had or my friends had.

If I could give a restaurant 6 out of 5 stars I would. The Bananas Foster French Toast is literally the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. And the duck fat biscuits and gravy are to die for. Definitely a must eat for brunch in Denver!

Post roast Benedict was lovely. One of the best brunch items I’ve ever had. The flavors just worked so well together. Great space and service was wonderful. Would love to come back next time I’m in the area.

This place is a hidden gem. It's the same chef as the restaurant that used to be here (Sassafrass), but I like the menu and execution of each dish much better, to be honest. We had the boudin balls, egg sardou, the Nashville hot chicken grits, a bloody flight and mimosa flight. I could put the jam that comes with the boudin balls on EVERYTHING. It was an amazing meal, with great service by Crystal. We will definitely be frequenting this spot!

Driving past we totally missed it. But we turned around and had to drive back by. It's an awesome restaurant hidden right off colfax, looks like a hole in the wall but the food makes up for that and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Brooke our server made great suggestions and we will definitely be back with our friends!! Thank you Brooke!

We have been here only 2 times but both times we were amazed by the food and the drinks and service. Our wonderful, beautiful and sweet server (Sydney) made wonderful suggestions and we loved everything she suggested to us. The chef is a true artist and I can not wait to go back and try new dishes.

We had a great time here, our waiter was fun, and the food is great. We had the boudin balls (very good), banana fosters French toast ? (also very good), deep south Benedict w/ sweet potato hash, grillades grits, Buffalo hash w/ fried egg, and short rib Mac. There was some collard greens in the dishes...that alone I wish I had ordered an extra side plate of.

Exile (also an AMAZING Taylor swift song) was beyond delicious! From the amazing brunch burger to the side of Mac n’ cheese, I honestly don’t think it could’ve gotten any better. Our waitress was sooo nice and helpful with drink and food recommendations! Oh, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch shot was also amazing and would highly recommend. Definitely going back if I’m ever in Denver again.

Food was great, and we received our breakfast within 15 minutes of ordering. We also ordered a cappuccino and latte, but the staff completely forgot about our drinks as they came over with our bill. We told them that we needed to head out fairly quickly due to work, and asked if they could just put our drinks in to-go cups. When the staff brought over our cappuccino and latte, she said they made them with oat milk because they just made a big batch of oat milk. We did not order the coffees with oat milk, and the taste was pretty terrible. This restaurant is understaffed in bartenders and servers. Unfortunately, we were out off by our 40 min wait for our coffees (after finishing our breakfasts already), and the fact that they used oat milk instead of just regular milk.

DELICIOUS! Best meals we had when in Denver. I was starting to lose hope when we found this place and I wasn't disappointed at all. The first time we went was on Saturday morning, there was a bit of a wait about 25mins for two people. We walked around the area and visited the bookshop on the corner. When we finally got called in we got seated and our waitress was super sweet. The ambiance is casual with good music playing in a the background. We started with the biscuits and gravy, we tried both the duck fat sausage and the mushroom. I preferred the meat gravy but it also tastes good mixed. For our main, we shared a grillades & OMG was it soooo fire. My only complaint was there weren't enough collards (they split the plate for us & I literally had like 3 collard leaves on mine). But, the short ribs were perfectly cooked & flavorful, the collards were incredible & everything about that whole dish just sung. For dessert we had to order beignets. They were the perfect size & the perfect ending to our meal. This place was so good that I HAD to go back the next day which was our last day in Denver. This time we ordered the Deep South benedict, cup of gumbo, & extra side of greens. Another winner! That smoked Tasso was out of this world and the GF cornbread was sooooo good. Collards were fire again - another thing I appreciate about these collards is they take the time to remove the stems, small but crucial detail that not all restaurants take the time to do. I usually don't like hollandaise so I ordered it on the side and when I tried it it was delicious! It was silky & buttery, perfect on that Benedict. The gumbo was really good too but for me there was way too much rice, I woulda preferred less rice & more gumbo bc I like a lot of stew. If you have a short visit & are trying to plan ahead where to eat in Denver, this is a MUST go. Trust me, we tried several of the "top" places to eat & they didn't live up to the hype. This place definitely does.
