Convenient because of location. Friendly staff.
Very polite and kind. I took my daughter's disabled boyfriend to the office and was pleasantly surprised.
Very helpful and professional
It has been 19+ years of communicating with La Plata County child support as a payer. Gina was my original case worker and I just got off the phone with her little while ago to say thanks.
Absolutely no one wants to send a check in to someone else but the people that work within this department has been great to work with since 2006.
To all payers, realize that this is a group of people that are just doing their jobs. Ask questions and don't be mad or upset with them. If I was able to go the better part of 20 years with ups and downs, you can too! Treat this group with respect and they will kindly return the favor.
They are a great team to work with. As a payer, I'm kind of going to miss them after such a long relationship. If you're young and reading this, days are slow but years are fast.
Good people who answered all of my questions. Fairly fast turnaround with documents needed.
This place screwed me over really bad. They put me on a program I didn't even apply for. I was told I'm not allowed to save money for a place to live. I'm on SSDI and they told me I can't get Medicaid even though I'm 450$ shy of the income limit. Now I'm not able to get Medicaid unless I'm completely broke and homeless. I have to wait an entire year for recertification. I've got severe bone and gland infections that I won't be able to get surgeries now. They basically told me my life doesn't matter. God bless Colorado
For anyone attempting to use SNAP read this please. Even if you input the correct information for your personal information regarding income, rent/mortgage etc, regardless if it is verified over the phone with a county worker. If an error is made on their end, as in a clerical error, whatever snap benefits you end up with due to that error, YOU have to pay it back. It is federal law.
So in seeking temporary assistance for my family, we have been put in debt over $4,000. Yes you read that right. It would have been more but I gave back remaining funds on our SNAP card account. There was no way of knowing how much we actually should have ended up with during this verification process, that information is not available with how they calculate what to give you. If it was, I would have never agreed to the amount they gave us in the first place. The clerical error made was that my husband was unemployed giving us maximum benefits when in fact he was employed the entire time and they had paystubs on file to verify this. I VERIFIED over the phone his employment and start date.
Apparently the state of Colorado has a high rate in CLERICAL errors within different counties. Countless families have been put in horrible situations just like mine and there’s nothing to be done about it. I even read some families have had to take out personal loans to pay back these errors. That is outrageous. There are many news articles covering this “overpayment” topic. In CO, SNAP is state ran but county supervised meaning every county has its own policies. Someone in this facility on the phone told me “it’s important to remember this is really no one’s fault”. Are you kidding me? My family is now suffering because of this error.
I did appeal with a hearing explaining my family’s situation and showing various medical bills we have for our children. - none of it counted because no one was disabled or over the age of 60. So in their eyes, we have enough money to pay them back for the next three years. In our actual situation we will be struggling to make the monthly claim payment and actually put food on our table and pay other necessary bills. And if we refuse to pay, our wages will be garnished through taxes.
This is absolutely unjust. Absolutely unfair.
So do yourself a favor and triple check whoever is handling your case that they are not making any errors or you will suffer the consequences for many years to come.
Excellent service Great staff always willing to help with questions and. Paperwork filled out correctly
The only way to get into contact with them, besides going into their office, is by voicemail. Normally this will be fine, but they don’t get back to you for months. Anytime I’ve talked with anyone over the phone. They have been very rude and demanding a huge waste of time trying to get in contact with these people.
Was in and out very quickly and they were very efficient and helpful.
