This place is terrible! No accountability! The service is atrocious. Hire more people or better perhaps! When ordering to go and you tell someone their food will be ready at a certain time, then 20 min later you say sorry its not ready that is not ok. Shrugging your shoulders is not good enough!

I’ve visited twice for takeout. First time, I ordered online and was charged an extra $1 for that. Fine. Next time I ordered via phone and paid inside upon pickup. Only AFTER my card was charged did it show a 3% market surcharge fee. This was not on the website, nor disclosed in person.
Rather than adding obfuscated fees, management should consider raising menu prices. Customers value transparency.
As for the food, the ceviche was delicious on the first visit. The following time, I ordered the same, but it came with grocery store round tortilla chips instead of the original crispy strips. Of course the menu description didn’t change…
Our second visit. Food is great! Service is top notch and margaritas are exceptional. Sebastian our server put the ZING in AmaZING!

Always a great taco Tuesday option
We love the food at this Evergreen restaurant, but will probably never go there again. Two times ago, it was nearly empty and we took a seat at the bar. The bartender could barely look at us when he walked by and several times, I had to get up, walk over to him, and say we needed some food or drink. Let me reemphasize that there was only a handful of people in the entire restaurant. Against our better judgment, we went back again last night. This time we sat at a table and once again, the service was horrendous. The food did not come out together, first of all. In the middle of eating, he asked if we wanted a to-go container. That was strange. And then to get our check, we waited at least 20 minutes. He was not busy since he was talking to a patron at the bar for that entire time and most of the restaurant was empty at that point. The food wasn't good enough where we'd put up with the level of service they offer.

Delicious! We got the Al pastor wings and various tacos (Al pastor, shrimp, fish, carnitas, barbacoa, and chicken mole). Every dish was fire!!

It wasn't mine or my fiance's favorite. The Birria tacos had too much cheese, and the meat could have been cooked longer. My fiance had four different kinds of tacos. They were subpar to say the least. One fish that was deep fried with like a pencil size fish in the middle of the deep fry it also had crema on it which we specifically asked not to have, the al pastor could have been cooked longer, the chicken mole tacos were made with okay chicken and really sweet mole, sweeter than most. And the last one I don't remember because it was not rememberable. We gave it a try, we won't be back. Bummer too because we've heard such good reviews.

Great food via delivery. But in a hotel room, how are you supposed to eat it without plates, napkins, or cutlery? We asked specifically for that.

Food and margaritas were very good.
The Kalaka menu gets a 10/10 for ingredients, flavor, preparation and portions. A long time favorite restaurant we recently used for catering and the food was exceptional as always. The in person dining service leaves much to be desired - such is the trend these days unfortunately.

Massachusetts resident visiting Evergreen, CO, for a family wedding-Uber'd from DIA straight to Kalaka to kill 3 hours bf check-in at nearby hotel. The staff could not have been more welcoming or accommodating (party of 3, each with carry-on bags). The Coin Margaritas were handmade, delicious, & authentic. My follow-up Dos Equis Amber draft was ice cold & perfect. Four different salsas, chips, & tableside-made quacamole started us off. Each salsa had its own vibrant color, texture, & heat profile; all were outstanding. I had the Taco salad, sister had chicken & spinach quesadilla, & her spouse had a steak bowl (greens, rice, beans, etc). Generous servings, fresh everything, & every bite was flavorful as all get- out. Our server kept our water pitcher full (CO is soooo much drier than MA & we were parched) & made sure we were comfortable & well-stocked with whatever we needed. Learning that we were in town briefly for a wedding, our server surprised us with a complimentary dessert (picture), the style of which captures the unique atmosphere. Highly recommend!
