Haxtun Cafe is a great little spot that has impressed many diners. The chicken sandwich was very good, with crispy and fresh breading, and everything that came out of the fryer was top shelf. The restaurant interior has changed significantly and looks more modern now. The service was great, with a young, polite server who offered several great recommendations and answered questions about the dishes and the special. The chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, with corn came out really tender with a super crunchy crust, fried to perfection. The mashed potatoes had large chunks of potatoes, obviously indicating these were house made. The fried shrimp and fries had a thick, flaky crust and were cooked perfectly, crunchy on the outside with shrimp that still burst with moisture. The food was amazing, with huge portions, and customers were impressed with prices for the amount of food. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious. The biscuits and gravy with bacon are highly recommended. This is a great spot to eat if you're close by, and looks like a bunch of desserts would be great to try out as well.
