We did the chef's table and it was so fun! Our only complaint was that the restaurant seemed to be understaffed and our server disappeared for long periods. But we loved talking with the chef and learning about the cooking techniques. Also, they need more comfortable chairs at the chef's table.

A really neat, historic spot in Ouray that takes you back in time with calming ambiance! Staff is friendly and accommodating. My wife and I snacked before our 45 minute drive to restaurant so we didn't have much of an appetite when we got there, which was a bummer because they had some entrees we really wanted to try. We opted for 2 appetizers instead, and 2 desserts. The cheeseboard was good but could have used more variety, and the blue cornbread was light and fluffy. It was tasty! What I remember most, however, is the Chocolate Pot dessert. It changed my life! :)

I was generally underwhelmed with this restaurant starting with its limited selection of dinner entrees. Although the food was ok, the portions were small for the prices paid. The wood fired vegetable starter priced at $17 was way overpriced! To end things off I didn't like that the hand held payment terminal had the tips start at 22%. In summary there are better dinner options in Ouray.

We opted to eat in the spacious bar and had amazing service. The Black Manhattan was delicious as was the freshly harvested heirloom tomato salad served with a rich local goat cheese. The bass was lovely in a basil sauce and the fried chicken pieces were good (could have used a bit of salt, although I'm a southerner, and we like our fried chicken more savory I suppose). We lingered over a rich and satisfying coconut custard slice - which was gorgeous. Our bar tender/wait staff was so friendly, efficient and gave us great advice. What a great experience!e!

This is the second time we have been to the Western. Service is attentive and friendly. The actual restaurant has a beautiful view with incredible ambiance. I am very fortunate in that my husband is a great cook. However, that has made me more discerning when we go out to eat. I think the fact that we have dined here twice is all the rave review I can give to the Western. An elevated dinner with great food and creative drinks.

Our experience started off a bit bumpy as the hostess was caught up scheduling a large party. Another lady was behind the counter and said the other woman was the only once who could help us. She finally decided to help and seated us. We ordered some of their signature cocktails. They took a little time to come out but they were very tasty. We split the warm leek salad (special) which was delicious. We also ordered the two entre specials. The steelhead trout was amazing. The pork chop was good. It had a good wood fired taste but was nothing super special. You MUST get the cheesecake. We loved it, not too sweet, nutty crust.

We enjoyed sharing salads and entrees. Server made recommendations. Loved the special cocktail. The modern western theme was spot on. Music wafted in from the outdoor patio. Topped off our visit to the Ouray International Film Festival 2024.

We sat at the chefs counter husband‘s birthday. The food and experience was awesome and Sierra was a fabulous server.

I recently dined at The Saloon at the Western Hotel and had a generally positive experience. Upon arrival, we experienced a slight delay with our initial server. However, this minor hiccup was quickly resolved when a second server named Sierra took over. Sierra's exceptional service truly made our dining experience memorable. She was attentive, friendly, and ensured that all our needs were met promptly.Sierra, along with her fiancé who also works at the restaurant, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They both exuded warmth and genuine hospitality, making us feel like valued guests. Their teamwork and dedication to excellent service were evident throughout the evening. The food at The Saloon at the Western Hotel was fantastic. The menu offers a great variety of options, catering to both vegan and non-vegan diets. Each dish we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared, demonstrating the kitchen's ability to accommodate diverse dietary preferences without compromising on taste or quality. Moreover, the restaurant's atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, making it a perfect spot for both casual and special occasions. I highly recommend The Saloon at the Western Hotel for anyone looking to enjoy a delightful meal with excellent service, thanks in large part to Sierra and her fiancé's outstanding efforts.

Can't speak to the hotel but the restaurant was a huge disappointment. We ordered drinks and were brought completely different drinks than what we ordered. The $17 salad was TERRIBLE. It seems like the chef was making up for bad dressing with salt. We both ordered the rigatoni but honestly it was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the $160 we spent. I think that even in Ouray there are better options for food than this overpriced mess.

The saloon is soooo cool. And they use this fireplace to cook! Amazing!!! Have to make a 24 hr reservation for that though. The drinks were top notch too. Highly recommend.

Extraordinarily beautiful interior, charming service, and delicious food options at a price rivaling many far less compelling local establishments. I eagerly anticipate my return to this restaurant, and it will be a factor in bringing my family back to Ouray again.

Loved our experience here. Booth table with Mountain View’s, cocktails 10/10, service 10/10, enjoyed our food and especially the coconut flan with a double espresso. Next time we hope to stay at the hotel and sit at the chef’s table. Favorite dinner spot in Ouray.

We could not have enjoyed our evening more (4/24). Teri was phenomenal. She was super attentive and so very nice and accomodating. And the bartender (sorry I forgot his name, I'm thinking Jeff???) was amazing and made some amazing specialty cocktails for us. The price was more than reasonable and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Gourmet and plated beautifully and yet casual and comfortable. We spent 3 hours there and didn't even realize so much time had passed. It is a MUST DO if you visit Ouray! Not to mention the ambiance. Truly takes you back to another time/era. A must see. Face on the Bar Room Floor!!!
