5/27/25-had the worse chicken fried steak in my 60 yrs of eating chicken fried steaks. The "cream gravy" was watered down to a broth. I'll eat at Macdonald's before I eat at Boss Hogg's again. sad there never have been many decent places to eat in Pagosa & I lived there 10 yrs.

Of all the places we went to in Pagosa, both my partner and I agree that this place was the absolute best.

The food was very reasonably priced, generous portion sizes, and delicious! I got the patty melt and my partner got the slopper, an open face burger smothered in green chili. Both dishes were fantastic, super delicious and rich but not overly heavy.

The atmosphere is incredible, truly. We came on a Monday night and it was super quiet. All of the staff we interacted with were super friendly and great conversation! The bartender (her name evades me) was so lovely and chatting with her was a delight. She was very attentive to us, always checking if we needed another drink or anything else.

I see that there are some pretty negative reviews, but I can honestly say I'm so happy I ignored them. This restaurant is wonderful in many ways. I cannot think of any genuine complains I could make, everything was great and I highly recommend coming here!

We are visiting from out of town and stopped in to grab dinner. I noticed an “early bird” special, where a filet mignon, and two sides was $16.99, if purchased before 6:00 PM. Wow! The filet mignon was excellent— perfectly cooked with wonderful flavor. I had a baked potato, which came with sour cream, butter, and garnish as well, and the side salad, which is a single trip through the salad bar. The salad bar items were fresh, and plentiful (for a side salad). The waitress, Lauren, was very attentive. We received several drink refills without asking, and she had a great personality.

Parking: The parking lot is large, and very accessible, with several entrances.

Kid-friendliness: This is a great family restaurant. It is very large, and when we went, before 6 PM, it wasn’t very busy yet. There were many families visiting with kids. There are many options on the menu for kids.

We stopped in while on a hunting trip. They played good music at a reasonable sound level. The food and service were good but not as good as I thought it could be since there were just a few tables and 2 waitresses.

We had a wonderful pink hair waitress! She was wonderful for all the area she was covering. She had to cover for some of the dishes that were not available anymore. The hostess could of done more than what she did. She could of at least smiled once in awhile. She needs to be taught HospiTality, if your going to work in a restaurant. But it was a pleasant meal. Thank you pink hair waitress!!

Came in from Georgia, looked up - Google- Great hamburgers in Pagosa Springs, Boss Hogg's 1st one, lives up to its name, great food, great service, went back next day for early bird special, the filet, potato, and salad, can't beat the quality, taste, and price, would go back next time in town

Food was really good and the service was very good and attentive. I had the 1/3 lb pulled pork with baked beans. The other meal was a Burger. Only thing I didn't like was the amount of onions in the baked beans. Took me a few minutes to pick through them. The burger and baked potato was very good.

Parking: You will have to get on the side(service)road of oh US 160. Not hard to find on the west side of Pagosa almost out of town.

I'm not sure how this place can stay in business, other than unsuspecting/uninformed customers like myself and party frequent this establishment enough to pay the ownership's bills.

PROS: Appetizers, a burger, the kids' corn dogs and fries, and the baked potatoes, were decent. Our server seemed pleasant and attentive, at first. Cheap margaritas, but also very weak.

CONS: (service) Clearly, they are understaffed. We had to ask multiple times for place settings. Another table was brought a spoon for their salad because they didn't have any clean forks left to distribute. 🙄 Our waitress didn't bring out the sides for two orders, and only brought one of the missing ones at the end of the meal (the other was declined because we were essentially finished by the time she was paying any attention to us). These over sights were not addressed on the bill.

MAJOR CONS: (food) My ribeye was select grade at best... no marbling, chewy, and lacked flavor. My wife's French dip looked like the beef had been frozen and was almost white in color, also chewy and flavorless. My MIL's bbq chicken was also similarly chewy and flavorless.

OVERALL: If you want appetizers and cheap, weak margaritas, give Boss Hogg's a visit, otherwise, you'd be better off going to Arby's... and I'm not much of a fan of Arby's, either, but their meats taste better than what this place served us!

After reading some reviews, we were skeptical to try this place. I'm so glad we did! The food was so delicious. We came with a party of 6. We got ribeyes, prime rib, fried catfish plate, and the ribs. Everyone's dish was cooked to perfection and very tasty. We also ordered some appetizers that were really good. We got potato skins, mozzarella sticks and fried mushrooms. Our waitress Lauren was fantastic and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. We will be coming back for another steak dinner.

Would've loved to have eaten here. Arrived at 7:40 was told there was a ten minute wait by the young man at the front thinking he was the server. Sat on the bench waited. He came back maybe 10 min later & told us they were very behind, two family's had left as we waited and there were many tables empty, he suggested that we should eat at the bar. It's kinda hard to eat on a bar top. Plus I don't drink. Any way we were very disappointed.
