Disappointing! This used to be a great dog friendly place with ample tables and a friendly staff. They have since changed to limited picnic tables with the dining experience being self serve. The hostess was not very friendly to us and very rude. So many other great places in Pagosa that are Pet friendly and welcome guests. We will no longer be coming here and suggest the Break room for those looking for a pet friendly experience along with great food and fantastic locally crafted beers.

The atmosphere is lovely with the outdoor patio being next to the slow calming river. There is a lot of indoor space and a pretty large bar area. The food was solid and came out pretty quick, and of course the beer is great. A lot of variety in types of beer and the vibe is laid back and friendly. You'll see big families, kids, couples, all walks of life for clientele. My only suggestion is to improve the service for the "dog beach." While I love the fact there is an area dedicated for pets, there's literally no service for the four tables by the riverbank. You have to go into the bar to order and get a pager to come pick up the food when it's done. It feels very segregated from the rest of the restaurant it made us feel like second class patrons. It's not more than a few steps to extend service to the dog beach, so I hope they extend it fully to all patrons. It would just be nice to have someone from the restaurant at least check on you down there, but you're pretty much on your own and implied to bus your own table and put the dirty dishes in a provided cart with water (which was hot and not iced like the water on the regular patio). If you have a pet dog, just be aware you will definitely feel less welcomed than other patrons. And if you don't have a pet dog, you'll be just fine with the regular service as it seemed to be pretty regular with top offs and taking dirty glasses and plates.

We picked this place out on a Friday night, noticed it had slightly mixed reviews but overall 4.5 stars, looked cute and had a small but diverse menu and was on the river.

We arrived about 7 pm, which I realize is peak dinner time. We were told the wait would be an hour and a half, and decided to stay. At 7:30, they stopped adding additional people on the waitlist. We thought this was weird for a Friday night, and never saw all of the tables fully sat at once (which was frustrating during such a long wait) but assumed they were short staffed and waited patiently. The hostess was visibly stressed the whole time we waited as she turned people away.

She finally asked us if it was ok to seat us on the patio. It was cold out, but we agreed assuming like most restaurants with patios during the fall and winter months they would have some kind of heat. There was no heat, we froze the entire time we tried to sit and eat dinner as it was in the 40s.

I was happy that they offered a non alcoholic beer on tap. The burger had pretty good flavor, but the patty was definitely thin and nothing special. The fried catfish tasted good but could have been crispier. The tartar sauce it was served with was inedible, it tasted really off, almost like eggs? Two of us ordered the nachos, one with chicken. The chicken was missing and only the very top layer of cheese on the nachos was melted. 90% was not cooked at all, literally raw shredded cheese on chips. The salsa and crema on top had a good flavor. But I was only able to eat a few bites before getting to the raw stuff, which was not appetizing. I would have asked for them to add the chicken and heat it up more, but our waiter never once checked on us after dropping off the food. I think we were sitting for an hour.

We were the last ones on the patio, the hostess was cleaning up, and we finally flagged her down and asked for our waiter. When he finally showed up he asked what else he could get for us, not how anything was or any apology for never checking on us. We asked for the checks and told him about the problems with the food. He did take the nachos off the bill which I appreciate, but I would have rather been able to eat dinner. It then took another 20 mins or so to get us checked out.

He apologized at the end for everything not being up to our expectations. As someone who used to work in the restaurant industry I told him we understood and it seemed like something happened. He responded that no, this was just a normal Friday night. That shocked me and I cant imagine they will last long if this is normal for service.

The place was pretty being on the river and the food had potential but I would never eat here again after all of that.

Beer and food were fine. They had a guitar player on the back patio. That was nice.

We went here as we were told they had a pet friendly patio. It’s a beautiful location and we were looking forward to eating there which we have eaten here several times.

There was a sign that said to be seated but no one came. So one of us went in to find someone so i just sad down to wait for a staff member when I was so rudely told we could not sit there and we had to be seated by a staff member. I have no problem with not having dogs on the patio (but there was no sign saying this ). The staff member was SO RUDE and unwelcoming. We felt unwelcome and took our business elsewhere. Next time greet your customers in a more respectful manor please and a sign saying no pet’s on the patio would be recommended too. As you are known as having a pet friendly patio.

Food was very mediocre. No flavor for goat sandwich. Gyro tiki sauce very plain. Waitress not caring. Asked to have a drink made that they didn't know how to make and they had blank faces. Pretty easy drink also.

Loved this stop! We were at the springs and decided to visit. We got the nachos and they were very good, and all the beer we tried was top-notch. We always carry a growler around with us but rarely decide to fill it. At Riff Raff, we had a hard time choosing which one to get! Our server was great, quick, nice to us and to our kids, and let them sample the house root beer. Definitely recommend.

Kid-friendliness: Great to our kids and gave them samples of root beer!
