ROOT HOUSE coffee + shop

I loved this place and have always looked forward to returning but yesterday was different. The woman taking the orders could not of been less pleasant. No eye contact, no acknowledgement of my order, definitely not a happy person. Today we walked over and the door was open with employees huddled around the counter and there was a sign outside saying “no water”. Not “closed no water” some people had just walked in ahead of us to confirm that they were closed but none of the employees would even look up and acknowledge them. Very weird. Amazing cinnamon roll but that’s the only positive for this trip.

I was in town for a week for a trip. I came here twice, the first time was great all around 5 stars. The second time, I ordered a medium drink. The lid seemed to pop off real easily, so I thought the cup may have had a shallow lip. I asked the barista for a new cup. He told me that the medium lids didn’t come and they fit loose on the cup. (Which is totally fine) I then asked for a large cup to put the medium drink inside of it. He looked up annoyed and then asked the other barista in annoyed tone “Can you get a large cup.” I said thank you and I just got a blank look back. It then became uncomfortable and tense as I tried to put the lid on the cup.

Love the vibes, it is like super outdoorsy like outpost vibes while also being lowkey coffee shop.

Staff was super kind and patient.
They had little items to buy through the store that were more towards getting outside which makes sense cause that is their slogan.

Maple cinnamon roll was great, coffee was great.

Cute coffee shop overlooking the river. I got a dirty chai, the hubs got a drip coffee and a bag o beans!

Wonderfully cozy coffee shop. Great quality coffee. Pastries were slightly warmed up, a great touch and they were not dried out. Some shopping, books, gifts, shirts, hats.

Rude grumpy staff and way overpriced pastries. $10 for a cinnamon roll and none og the prices were listed. Then they acted annoyed when I double checked that I was grabbing the right drink. Like I am trying to save you time and headache and your annoyed. Plus I overheard multiple employees stating how they were not well treated, either being micro managed or underpaid.
Great coffee and gifts but they are making a shitty vibe by how they run this business.

Great crew! Great espresso! Right next to the river. Dog friendly. Life doesn’t get any better than this! Have a cup for you and a pup cup for your dog and walk the river trail to see some deer, ducks or crazy kayakers.

We're staying across the river at The Springs resort and took the very convenient pedestrian bridge from the resort to ROOT HOUSE and it was such a great decision. The good, drink, atmosphere and staff were all amazing. It's a popular location so there was always a line this Saturday morning but the staff worked hard and did an amazing job.

We had the house latte, a pour over, a sausage bite, a kolache, and slice of lemon cake. Our latte and pour over were the best we've had in a really long time and that good was delicious.

There's a variety of seating options outside and inside and a wonderful woodsy/camping gift shop. I imagine we'll be back tomorrow before we depart Pagosa Springs and think this is a great place to stop if you're just passing through!

My wife and I stopped in for some afternoon coffee. She had a cold brew and I had a latte with raspberry and chocolate. Both drinks were very good. The guy that took the order was friendly and helpful.

Really loved the atmosphere here, quite busy when I arrived with a line out the door. Outdoor seating by the river is quaint, and I got a free coffee when I purchased a bag of beans. The mocha was excellent.

Green tea was good. Service from the man at the counter was terrible, unfortunately. 3:15pm 8/7/25.
