Walking into Taco El Tapatío transports you into the heart of old downtown Guadalajara. The authenticity cannot be overstated, except to say, it was super autentica. I would describe the food as “Mex-Mex,” and it greatly trumps what I’ve heard referred to as “Tex-Mex.” If you’re looking for a spot that says, “hey, you elder millennials, welcome to Mexican that reminds you of your childhood,” and yet also says “the food is good,” you will be very happy with your elección.

Came here for the first time last year. Back in town for the first time since then and was really excited to go back. Went around 6pm. The place was packed and looked like a large party had surprised them but also had customers not with that party. We waited about 30 minutes and had been asked by two people how many was in the party (we’re a 2 top). The last maybe 5 minutes we were there, a party of 4 walked in behind us. The restaurant chose to seat them instead of us saying that they cannot serve 2 tops. There were parties of 2 at several tables not associated w that large party and there was a couple in front of us not with that large party that was seated as well.

Thanks to the staff for treating us so well. The drinks were strong, the food delicious, and the service was exceptional. We really enjoy vacationing in Salida and Monarch Mountain. It is restaurants like this one that help bring us back every year. The fish tacos were great. Thanks!

Ordered to-go and tacos were soggy and falling apart, rice and beans were cold, food was bland and did not taste good. Really disappointing because it was quite expensive for what it is.

Small place so 5:30pm had a wait and service was slow even though the employees were working extremely fast. Steak supreme burrito was bland as well as the pina colada. Won't be returning here

I wanted to love this place. The salsa served when we came in was delicious. But the rest of the food (which was on the pricey side--I hope it means staff is paid well) was really salty. And I love salt. But. Staff was friendly, but service wasn't particularly attentive. Still a decent stop on a roadtrip.

This is the best, most consistent food in Salida. It is underrated. I eat there 2-3 times a week. Their street tacos are the best. The service is excellent.

Disappointed at the service - took forever to get chips/salsa and drink order. Same slow service as the now-closed El Tapatio in Westcliffe! Food was slightly better, but the refried beans smelled/tasted horribly. Also, $9.50 for an overcooked chicken finger kids’ meal was ridiculous! Definitely not returning!
