I understand why this was pretty much the only restaurant without a line waiting out the door.
The two men waiting/bussing tables were spectacular. They were the best part of the experience.
The hamburger was decent. I opted to upgrade from potato chips to the vegetable soup, for a $4 charge. That was a mistake, not worth $4 for one ladle of soup that was 80% tomato chunks, 15% corn and 5% celery. Stick with the chips.
Do yourself a favor and avoid the mushroom sandwich.
Maybe different menu choices would have changed my opinion, but I think I will try elsewhere next trip through.

We were met at the door by a very nice young lady. Virgie came over to our table with a big smile and asked what we wanted to drink...she was very endearing! Paul took our order and was very courteous and efficient! The restaurant was packed but the service was exceptional. It was a very pleasant dining experience! The food was delicious with big portions!!!!! We will definitely be coming back to the Pickle Barrel!!! Thanks ?

This place was recommended to us by a few people in town. They told us we had to try the Reuben. We love Reuben’s so we made sure to fit this place into our short trip. We looked online before ordering and then ordered as a to go order inside. The restaurant smelled dank and musty and was dark. I understand these are old structures, but i definitely would not have eaten inside. When I ordered the two sandwiches there was only a side option of chips and the price was so much higher than their website said. They said they haven’t updated that in years and the price went up- which is fine, but the price was extremely high for two sandwiches, especially seeing that the side of chips was literally a half bag of ruffles dumped into the box. The reubens were the worst we’ve ever had. It was so surprising since they were recommended. The bread was not toasted at all and there was a slice of tomato, lettuce, and raw onion on it like you would find on a burger. The worst part was the meat. Normally Reubens are piled with meat, but this was not. The meat was so unappetizing it was like very thin pre sliced deli meat that tasted like bologna, not at all like a Reuben. I normally would not write a review, but this was so shockingly bad and not worth the time or money. Enjoy the town and one of the other establishments for your meals.
