This is my second time coming to Dr. Mike’s. I didn’t care for the ice cream the first time but thought maybe it was just that particular flavor. Today, I got strawberry and rich chocolate. It was so bad I took a few bites and threw it out. I am not one to waste food but I really couldn’t eat it. The strawberry had a weird grittiness despite being almost like soft serve. I’m not sure how the ice cream is made but it doesn’t resemble traditional hard serve. It was melty and soft like soft serve when it was handed to me at the window. I also wasn’t impressed by the customer service. We arrived 45 minutes before close and heard one of the girls yell “Noooo!” I don’t know if it was related, maybe was part of their conversation but the service afterwards wasn’t friendly or welcoming. The girl at the window seemed exhausted and over it. Which is fair enough, been there. However, I’ve never let a customer see it. Wouldn’t return.

Best ice cream in Connecticut. Their staple flavors are great, and they also do really fun rotating flavors to keep things interesting. They even sell pints, so you can live the dream at home. Don’t overthink it - just go!

Better than Ferris Acres. I said it.

We frequent Dr. Mike’s all year long, and it never disappoints. From the moment you take your first bite, you’re reminded of everything great ice cream should be—fresh, homemade, creamy, and full of that nostalgic summer feeling, whether it’s July or the middle of winter.

Some of our favorites are the raspberry chip, toasted almond, rich chocolate, and, of course, the classic vanilla. What sets Dr. Mike’s apart is that every flavor tastes authentic and thoughtfully crafted. There are no artificial or fake syrup flavors—just rich, delicious ice cream made with quality ingredients. Every scoop has that old-fashioned homemade taste that leaves you wanting just one more bite.

While the menu may be smaller than some larger ice cream shops, every flavor is exceptional, proving that quality matters more than quantity. You truly can’t go wrong with any choice. And if you’re in the mood for a milkshake, they’re thick, creamy, and absolutely delicious.

Dr. Mike’s is everything an ice cream shop should be—a place that brings back fond memories, creates new ones, and serves incredible ice cream that keeps us coming back year after year. 🍦☀️❤️

This was my 45th class reunion weekend (Bethel High class of '81!) which would not have been complete if we did not go to Dr. Mike's for ice cream! I love when friends and old classmates come to town because it gives me a guilt free reason to go and enjoy the best ice cream ever!!! Living in the area I certainly don't require a reason to go but we all know that when you go with people you've been going with for the last fifty years, the calories don't count!

This is the best local ice cream parlor in Bethel. I love their rotation of flavors and the friendly atmosphere of the picnic tables for families to enjoy. My son loves coming here.

Very disappointed. We've been going to Dr Mike's for years. Not sure when the price of a small went to $6 and the portions went down. We got two smalls which is supposed to be 2 scoops. Well, we got 2 scoops but each was literally the size of a table spoon scoop if you were to scoop ice cream from a carton in your home freezer. Also, other customers who ordered the same size were getting their money's worth. When I went back to ask for more, the girl gave me attitude and said that was a small. She did give us more, but still not what we're used to from Dr. Mike's. If you're going to charge $6 for ice cream, give customers their money's worth.

Delicious ice cream and the staff is so kind!! We met the ice cream maker that has been part of the team for decades and we appreciated his beautiful story dedicated to this local business. We’ll be back many times!
