Went yesterday on a quiet cloudy Sunday. A few people at the bar and a few tables. Had the ahi tuna bowl. Tasty but small portion had minimal tuna that was overcooked. Hubby had burger and fries that were good. Nice crispy fries. We also had the fried calamari that was overcooked and disappointing. Plus 2 wines and a bloody Mary. Bill was $90. Plus tip. Bartender was sweet and attentive. Marissa I think. Might go back with a coupon or special offer to give it another try.
Ordered through Uber Eats, so basically zero accountability regarding beyond bland tomato bisque, a grilled cheese sandwich that looked like it had been brushed in melted butter and partially nuked (partially because the cheese was half melted), and soggy truffle fries. Threw the soup out, the sandwich too since it wasn't cooked. Local won't refund because ordered through Uber. Uber refunded a whole $8 of the $25 bill... that didn't include the tip for the driver (which I'm happy to pay, not their fault). Will NEVER eat here again and will NEVER use Uber Eats again.
Very good and reasonable priced. Food is always good and the staff is very good too. It is not your usual menu yet the food is something that keeps you coming back
Nice menu, good service..Enjoyed lunch with the Spicy Crunchy Tuna bowl- great takeoff on the Hawaiian Poke bowl...also enjoyed a hamburger cooked perfect medium rare...
I’ve been to Local on several occasions and have enjoyed my meals there. However, the service tends to lack consistently. On my most recent visit, our server was very attentive and friendly while the previous visit to that it was the opposite. I enjoy the environment and find it to be good for a meal or just some drinks with friends. I will certainly be back!
We stopped for a quick bite I got 20 wings “mango habanero” SO GOOD! My wife got the stroganoff she said it was like her dad used to make?
First time visit- All good ... nice bar and menu... tried a few local beers and the pork belly taco- which was excellent... will cone back to try more ... bartender was great...
A friend and I stopped in for a Saturday lunch. Surprisingly empty for lunch rush; only one other table in the dining room and a few patrons at the bar. (All the other restaurants in the same stretch of road were extremely busy.) My friend's burger was cooked to her order and the truffle fries we had were excellent. The "dip" noted on the menu for the fries was ketchup. The pork in the Boss Hogg sandwich I ordered was extremely dry, and even the dip (some sort of broth) didn't help. Our server asked us four or five times how everything was, including once before we even took our first bite. The restaurant definitely needs more attention to cleaning. Lighting in the dining room is suspended from wires, which were coated with greasy dust. Cobwebs were in every corner of the large wooden divider between the bar and dining area. The ladies room was a disaster, with a wet (not just damp) floor in one stall and under the sink, not caused by a wet mop. Since my last visit almost two years ago, the rear dining area has been turned into a pool hall, with three pool tables and a dart board. Next time, I think I'll pass.
Went to have drinks and some light Fare. Asked if soft pretzel on menu had dairy. Waitress crinkled her nose as if I had no right to ask. She did find out that they were Dairy free but the salt is held on with butter. I asked if they could make them with water on top to hold the salt (mind you, it's been done before) Again, her facial expressions made it seem like I was asking her to sacrifice her first born....omg. I said Never mind. Last time I will patronize Local. Drinks weren't that good anyway. She brought the check to us. Side note, As we were finishing our conversation she returned and said "Are you all set, I'm getting ready to leave "?
We've visited the Local in Fairfield many times and have always enjoyed it. This was our first visit to the Branford location and the fare is every bit as good. Firs time having the wings (which are outstanding), always a great choice are the crispy Brussels sprouts and also enjoyed the Thai chicken in a peanut sauce. Certainly worth enjoying when in the Branford area.

We enjoy local craft beer and have been to the Fairfield site. However, this is not quite up to par for the food. Maybe because it was a daytime and we only went once. However, the selection of beers is vast and the service was fast and friendly and the ambiance appropriate for a cool brew on a hot day. We will go again.
