Chapter One Food and Drink Mystic CT

rarely write reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was so unpleasant that I feel compelled to warn others. From the moment we walked in, the staff was dismissive and surprisingly rude. It felt like we were inconveniencing them just by being there.
The service was slow, unprofessional, and laced with attitude. Questions were met with eye-rolls, and any requests were handled as if they were a burden. The atmosphere among the staff was tense and catty, which created an uncomfortable dining environment for everyone around.
As for the food—it was mediocre at best and certainly not worth the price or the drama. There are plenty of other places in the area that actually care about customer service and quality. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a respectful or enjoyable dining experience.

Oysters weren’t cleaned well, dirty and full of shell pieces. Soup barely warm, sent back to have it heated, came back still not hot. Fish was just ok, over cooked. Couldn’t get server several times, finally had to just go to bar and get check….Terrible service !

Horrible service and food. Server did nothing but stand around on their phone.

Don’t go here. The food is disgusting. It’s the same exact frozen food you get when you go to guilford and you want clam chowder? It is coming from a bag. From both places. You want a sick stomach? You found the right place. These two restraunts are dirty, and disgusting. You want to be overcharged for gross food in mystic? Feel free eating garbage food in a “high end” “restaurant”

Cody was an amazing server; super friendly and even spent some time giving us some local history about Mystic! The hot lobster roll was the best we’ve ever had! I highly recommend Chapter One; a wonderful experience. Thanks, Cody!

Chapter One completely saved the night! The cocktails are top-notch—every drink is mixed to perfection. Whether it’s date night, a night out with friends, or you’re visiting from out of town, this is a must-stop while shopping or exploring the area.

The real standout is the staff. Our waitress was friendly, welcoming, and gave excellent local recommendations that made the experience even better. Between the atmosphere, the perfectly made drinks, and the service, Chapter One is a spot I’ll definitely be coming back to.

Went here for lunch after a day out in Mystic. Food was awesome, service was great, but the fruit fly problem is severe. I went into one of the bathrooms and couldn’t even sit it was covered in fruit flies. Then went into the other bathroom and had the same problem. There were a lot everywhere. Also no soap and hand dryers don’t work. The flies were all over our food too. Seeing as someone has already complained about a week ago and nothing has been done, I’m pretty disappointed.

Yesterday, my friend and I visited Mystic and stopped by Chapter One, and I had such a great experience that I didn’t want to forget to write about it!

First, I want to give a big shout-out to our waitress, Sarah M. She was incredibly polite, kind, and attentive the entire time. She kept my water glass full without me having to ask, and she went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. I was there with my three little ones and a large stroller, and unlike many places where I feel like we’re an inconvenience, here they made sure we had space and felt welcome. That meant so much to me.

I ordered a side of asparagus, which was delicious, and the maple bacon brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts weren’t quite to my taste (a bit more charred than I prefer), but when I mentioned it, Sarah was so understanding and kind—she even removed them from my bill without hesitation. That kind of customer service is rare and so appreciated!

The atmosphere at Chapter One was wonderful as well—there was live music, which made for a lovely, family-friendly vibe. I wish I had the budget to try more menu items, because everything looked amazing. Next time I’m in Mystic, I’ll definitely be coming back to explore the menu further.

Highly recommend Chapter One—and if you go, ask for Sarah!
