Our server had to be asked to carve and serve our shared steak and to serve the salad, neither of hwich could we reach.. The meat is outstanding, albeit expensive. The salad was very good as well. Noisy at night but calm at lunch time.
Loved it! The drinks were well balanced. Complimentary garlic bread on ciabatta was crisp and buttery. The Caesar salad was authentic and delicious. Our steaks were superb. We had the roasted potatoes, wild mushrooms and carrots for our sides. Everything was perfect. Desserts are made in house and don't disappoint. Our server was knowledgeable and professional. Everything was well timed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We will be back.
Outstanding dinner on a very busy Valentine's night. Meatballs are the best I've ever had! Great value and service! Hidden gem in Hamden.
Reserved months in advance and they tried to seat us in the worst possible place, worst Wagyu steak we've ever had. Slow service bad drinks bad everything just a waste of money will never come back
Over all a good experience. Service was great and food for value on point. The people watching is next level. I would literally go back to be entertained again. Table 15 in the bar has a great view. Everyone needs a good F bomb from the obnoxious neighborly ones. Bless her roots.
My experience was wonderful! I will definitely go there again especially for that lamb and my wife enjoyed her steak. Thanks for everything.
Wait for the food was a little while but we took into consideration that the restaurant was busy. Overall had a good time though and i would definitely go back when it's not so busy!
While I had hoped for an enjoyable evening, several aspects of our visit unfortunately fell short of expectations. Specifically, the pace of service was noticeably sluggish from the moment we were seated. There were significant delays in our orders being taken, drinks arriving, and the delivery of each course. It often felt challenging to capture the attention of staff, which ultimately impacted the overall flow and enjoyment of our meal.
Food was great (temperature of the food was warm). It was a little loud, live singer so expected. Would recommend and we will be going back to try lunch
I was very impressed with the food and service. This place is certainly a hidden gem in the New Haven area

I was prepared not to like Salvatore's, as I'm not a fan of “Italian steakhouses.” But the garlic bread was to die for, the appetizers were varied and tasty, the steaks and bouillabaisse were high-quality and delicious, and the wine and drink list was formidable. I have only two quibbles. My wife and I avoided the pastas because every one of them had either hot spices or cream in the sauce. I'm not a fan of either as neither is really Italian, and my wife is lactose intolerant. Can they just have some pastas with normal pasta sauces? And the noise level was very high.
Always a hit! Service makes you feel like you are an old friend, prompt but did not hover. Food is fabulous, great vibe. Can't wait to go back!
We are at Salvatore's almost every weekend for dinner or drinks or both. It's fabulous! The menu is great, the atmosphere is beautiful and it's always a good time with lots of familiar local faces. The servers are super attentive. We love it there!
Just like so many restaurants today, Salvatore's is exceedingly noisy, to the point of affecting one's enjoyment of the meal. The food is quite good, but overly rich. Every sauce is very heavy on the cream. The menu will state that a dish has a “touch of cream” when the reality is that it's very heavy on the cream. The restaurant has great potential in my neighborhood, but please lighten up on the richness.
The food was delish and the vibe was fun. The service was a bit spotty but they recovered beautifully. We will be back.
