Wow, really nice place to take brunch, good selection and different of draft beer, why not some botomless mimosas, the pour are insane, full af... I tried benedicts with ghost pepper hollandaise and were amazing! And the most important the service, the guy was phenomenal, really enjoy the experience and will come back soon... 100% recommend place to visit

The steak wrap was my selection, shaved steak (not to thick or thin), grilled mushrooms/onions, eggs , and cheese. From the start the combination tickled my taste buds. Thus elevating my dinning experience. The home Fry cooked to perfection. Defiantly highly recommend.

I love this place for Brunch! The drinks are amazing, the food is always consistent and delicious! I had the Mcsisson and my husband had the chorizo and avocado wrap, we can't recommend them enough, can't wait to come back :)

I had the pub burger. It was perfectly cooked. The fries were really good as well. The staff was very friendly and funny. It had a true Irish pub atmosphere. Multiple sports on multiple tvs and scarves from the local soccer team hanging above the bar. Great experience. If I lived in the area, I would likely become a regular.

The food was ok. They were out of corned beef and the soup of the day at 12:00. It took an hour to get our food. Part of the food were appetizers. They did not even bring those out in a timely manner.

Wonderful drinks, excellent food, but most importantly incredibly hospitality and service. This place quickly became a local favorite when moving to the Hartford area- and I have consistently enjoyed my visits here, whether grabbing happy hour, seeking a community oriented evening of live music(W-F-S), or enjoying a delicious Sunday brunch with bottomless Mimosas or Bloody's. The staff is fun, friendly and innovative- happy to engage in creative cocktail conversations, plan interactive Monday evening game nights (darts, Jenga, Mario kart, magic the gathering, paper airplanes- you name it!), fulfill goofy Saturday-night-karaoke dreams, and serve up a delicious and filling (vegetarian for me *) chili on game days. Without a doubt my favorite corner of the west end- and forever destination for all future CT * Saint Patricks Day * celebrations- I highly recommend Half Door to all! Grateful for the care and atmosphere fostered by the staff here- allowing any newcomer to feel welcome and home- just every Irish pub should! As a vegetarian I highly recommend the*V* Brussel sprouts for appetizers, and the spicy Avocado Benedict during brunch (YUMMMM)- but have seen huge and happy smiles from my meat-eating friends when ordering the Chorizo brunch wrap. Delighted by all the connections made at this local- whether local artists and musicians, passionate and community-building graduate students, and long time regulars who all combine for a wonderful time.

Good food, fair prices. A little off playing r&b in an Irish pub. Killed the atmosphere...

Stopped in for brunch on Sat. (5/7/22). Such an adorable place! We sat in a comfortable booth and service was stupendous. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and we did not wait long to order or receive our food. For drinks we got an orange juice and The Blood Of The Birds cocktail. The cocktail was absolutely delicious and beautifully made. For food we ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and the brunch grilled cheese with a side of corned beef hash. Everything was absolutely delicious through every bite. The corned beef hash was probably the best I have ever had; and it is one of my favorite dishes. Highly recommend and excited to come back in the future.

Traditional Irish feel (sometimes) ll hi when they have live Irish bands. The drink menu has quite a selection and there is the occasional Irish band playing.

One of my Yelp goals this year is to reconnect with my favorite CT places that I haven't visited for several years. This week, I visited the Half Door in the West End of Hartford for the first time in several years. Half Door has been important to me as (1) an Irish Pub where I would hang out with friends, and (2) a reliably good source of Irish and/or pub food such as sandwiches, Reuben egg rolls, soups like clam chowder and Shepherd's Pie. I sat at the bar on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered a Back East Ice Cream Man IPA and it was as good as I've come to expect. Half Door was not crowded, but the bartenders and other customers were friendly. The atmosphere is very cool and it seems like a Pub without trying too hard. So Half Door still works for me as an Irish Pub for social purposes. Unfortunately, the food did not equal my memory of it. I probably had no right to expect that Half Door would use the same recipes over the course of my several year absence. They in fact changed their Sheperd's Pie recipe substantially. I used to love the Half Door's Sheperd's Pie. It was one of my favorites anywhere. This new version had less food, coarsely ground lamb, splotches of coarsely mashed potatoes, VERY al dente peas and carrots. The dish definitely had a point of view, but it didn't work for me at any level. The flavors weren't balanced. I tasted an unpleasant alcohol flavor -- maybe whiskey? There was little noticeable salt, sweet or sour notes. I didn't enjoy the textures either. Half Door used to have a substantial and smoother layer of potatoes. You can see in the pic that the potato layer did not fully cover the meat layer and that the texture was rough. If it were me, I would abandon this recipe, and dig up the old one. I also used to love Half Door's soups, and especially the clam chowder. I was excited when I learned that clam chowder was the soup of the day. They apparently changed the recipe for the clam chowder as well. It lacked the same good flavor and texture. It wasn't bad, but I didn't enjoy it. I was really excited to eat at The Half Door. Unfortunately, the food was not as good as I remember, and I wouldn't likely return just for the food. I'd still love to meet friends there and enjoy the pub though. Five Stars for the pub part of the business. Three Stars for the Food. Four Star Average.
