Cozy atmostphere with nice outdoor seating. I really enjoy the way they cook eggs , always perfect balance in their sandwhiches. The coffee was really tasty. Wish there was more places like this around Hartford support local and there will be! ✌️

My toddler was losing her mind hungry for food so we came in here looking for something simple. The person working the register suggested buttered toast (only $2!) and they got it out quickly to us. My daughter was thrilled and loved it. The staff were super friendly and quick, highly recommended.

I tried the toast as well and it was the best buttered toast I’ve ever had. It was like that scene from ratatouille where the food reviewer zooms back to his childhood. It reminded me off the toast my mom used to make me when I was home on a snow day.

They should seriously consider adding buttered toast as a listed menu item it was amazing.

5 Stars: A Gem for Great Service and Healthy Options

Story and Soil Coffee in Middletown is an absolute national treasure! From the moment you walk in, the staff greets you with warm, friendly service that truly makes you and your crew feel welcome. They go above and beyond to ensure you have a great experience, whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor.

What I love most about this place is their commitment to offering healthy beverage options. Their menu features a variety of drinks that cater to different dietary preferences, including some fantastic matcha and tea choices. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the ingredients they use, which is a huge plus for anyone mindful of what they consume.

If you're in Middletown and looking for a coffee shop that combines excellent service with a selection of healthy, delicious drinks, Story and Soil Coffee is the place to be. Highly recommend.

Waited over 20 minutes for a bacon egg and cheese..first of all, no breakfast sandwich should take that long to make, and it was cold. The people in the kitchen area looked clueless. 2nd, probably the WEAKEST sandwich you can get on Main St in Middletown. If you want real food w people who know what they're doing, try Brew Bakers, Perk on Main, literally anywhere else

Over 25 minutes for 2 bagels. Came in on a friday morning around 9:50 and ordered 2 drinks and 2 toasted bagels with cream cheese. The drinks were just ok, cappuccino had too much milk and goldenmilk latte lacked depth. However the bagels took so long to come out, ordered around 9:52 and didn't get them till 10:19 or so. Worst of all they were cold and barely toasted when I got them. The place looks nice and all, but that is way too long to wait.

This place is cozy, pleasant and it's inside a bookstore, so right there it's already earned 4.5 stars. Now let's talk coffee. It's not gourmet, it's not delicious stuff. It's... okay.I haven't seen anywhere in the vicinity that appears to have better coffee, so when you consider the whole package, Story and Soil is a big win.

I love this place but literally 50% of the time I have tried to come here they are closed for some reason. I have literally not eaten here in months because they are never open. At the very least they could post online when they are closed due to technical difficulties/ingredient shortages.

Good product but bad management. They’re always out of stuff (cream cheese, arugula, matcha) and they’re quite rude. Not sure what’s going on with the kitchen staff but last time I was there there were 4 cooks only one working the other three standing around. My pastry was at least one day old and stale. Also when you go to tip it’s like a significant amount. None of this would be a too big of a deal but a flat white , latte, a bagel with lox, and bad pastry was $29 before tip… Its a place for students to spend their parents money real locals go to klekolo to avoid the greasy teens anyways.

This was the WORST bagel I've ever had. And, it was grilled instead of toasted as I asked, on a griddle where they had clearly put sausage before. Disgusting.

Hard to believe there were more employees than customers and there was a wait, seemed some were pretending to be busy so they didn't have to do
