I love Soup thyme. The staff is so nice and the owner is so nice. Go get his food. It’s so so good. The butter nut soup is the best with the oaster crackers.

Its a cute spot and good service. My husband was having oral surgery when I spotted this place, thought this is perfect. I got 4 kinds of soup. horrible!!! Broccoli and cheddar had negative flavor. It's looked very watered down and A LOT of flour. I took 2 bites and threw it out. Tomato basil was just ok. Again watered down. The chicken spinach gorgonzola was good at first but you really need to love gorgonzola to enjoy this soup. And then the split pea was actually the beat flavor and texture. Dont waste your money.

Unfortunately, even as a semi returning customer (we’ve been coming periodically over many years), I have to ding this place because of how it’s managed and the wait. Just way too long. Today I came in, there were 4 workers and only 2 people in line in front of me. Not sure why but it took a good 8-10 minutes for me to get called on. Not sure why 2 people in a line would take that long. Second, after the kid took my order instead of having someone start it, he took the next persons order, which seemed to take about 3 minute (large order?). 3/4 minutes after that he came and told me one of the ingredients for my sandwich was out of stock. So I gave him an alternative. I then noticed that the item they said was out of stock was right there in the showcase. Not a big deal.
Then another 10 minute wait to get what was essentially a grilled turkey and cheese.
In the end, I left the shop 30+ minutes later, when it wasn’t crowded, and they had 4 workers, for just a single panini.
To be honest, it always takes 20-30 mins to
Get an order here. Which is one of the main reasons we only go once in a while.
The food itself is always very good. Kudos on the quality, and I don’t mind a little wait, but between the mismanaged staff and the absurdly long waits, it’s going to keep people coming back less. Just a reality. The owner may be fine with it.
The other thing I would say is that if a similar business opened in this area that had an actual seating area, they would likely kill it, and especially in the winter. It’s essentially a to go only shop.
3/5 starts for great food, and troubled execution

I've been a long time customer, and I should have written this review years ago. Soup Thyme makes so many different soups daily, each and every one of them outstanding, that it makes it hard to decide. But I tend to default to my favorite, their chicken pot pie soup. They offer a wide variety of paninis to accompany their delicious soups. I often get a small soup and a half panini, excellent value at around 10 bucks. The owner and the staff are always friendly and welcoming and efficient. I gave only two stars for atmosphere because there were only a couple of tables inside the restaurant to sit. So don't come for the ambience, just come for the great food!

There was a line when they opened at 11 a.m. everyone waited patiently without being acknowledged by the staff. They were fulfilling telephone orders instead of greeting and helping those in the lobby. A woman said she had an ill son in the car and the female worker was dismissive and the woman angrily left. I asked the woman why we were all being ignored and phone orders were being handled 1st..?. She said either way we would have to wait 20 minutes for service! This was not nicely explained. A few of us started to talk to one another about the wait when suddenly the manager aggressively comes out and repeats "whose complaining about the wait?!" I said I'm questioning why we haven't been acknowledged or greeted. He shouted and pointed to the door to throw me out! I left with my friend, so at least 3 people walked out in the 1st 15 minutes after they opened. Horrible customer service. Not a welcoming place that appreciates our business. I wonder if I were a man if he would have been so disrespectful. We went to Panera Bread for the squash soup which was awesome with good service and kindness there.

Thank you Soup Thyme! Recently provided a catering order for a staff outing to the Make-A-Wish® Connecticut location. Food was excellent, especially the chicken salad. Presentation was great and coordinating the order was super easy! Staff at V.F. McNeil Insurance and Make-A-Wish were very happy :)

Delicious. The best soup I've had in Connecticut. Every one as Flavorful as the next. My favorites are the chicken pot pie, barley, and cabbage soup. My first visit was ten years ago, I considered it my only choice for lunch when I'm in the area.
There are a few tables to eat in, mostly a take out place. More than soup served. 2024

Restaurantji Recommends
Ordered 2 specials (1/2 paninis and small soups). Asked for sauce on the side and the sandwich was delivered with the sauce on it. Also no crackers delivered with the soups. Seems like the service has gone down hill at this place. Never had an issue before (in years).

URGENT WARNING: Unsafe for Individuals with Celiac Disease
I strongly advise against dining at this establishment. As someone with Celiac Disease, I trusted this restaurant to handle gluten-free (GF) requests appropriately. When placing my order, I specifically asked for the “Thyme After Thyme” sandwich to be made GF on GF bread and requested a glove change due to my condition. They agreed to these precautions.
Upon consuming the meal, I experienced severe symptoms indicative of gluten exposure. Concerned, I called the restaurant to verify if the chicken cutlet was GF. I was informed by a staff member that it was not GF and that they were too busy to address my concern. The manager, Ron, then rudely admonished me, stating, "educate yourself on gluten because cutlets aren’t gluten-free," and "guess what - people order GF soup and get crackers with it." He was arguing with me, yelling at me.
I have dined at numerous restaurants that offer GF chicken cutlets. This establishment should have informed me that their cutlets are not GF and offered a safe alternative (grilled chicken), especially after I specified my Celiac Disease. The management displayed gross unprofessionalism, and the staff lacks essential knowledge about food safety and gluten cross-contamination.
This restaurant poses a significant health risk for individuals with gluten allergies. Immediate education on professionalism, food safety, and proper handling of GF requests is URGENTLY needed. I am truly disgusted with the management here.
