Was disappointed in the lobster , after seeing on the Food Network, or some other foodie channel, I wanted to try it. Unfortunately, the one that they talked about Abbotts in the rough, was closed for the season. I did have a great location right on the Mystic River, the service was good in Lobster rollwas average. They had a special for two lobsters for 2495, but they were all out of them at 1:30. I won’t be visiting that place anytime soon, I would like to try Abbotts in the rough. Another time.

Stay away! There was only one person working in the whole place. You knew by his attitude that he didn’t want to be working. The whole place was filled with smoke from all the grease. You could barely breathe in there. The lobster bisque was cold and didn’t taste like anything other than heavy cream. The fish tacos had a cold coleslaw mango sauce on it. They could have at least heated it up before putting it on the tacos. The mustard they served in packets was probably 10 years old. It came out in clumps. Long wait (due to one guy working), dirty bathrooms with no toilet paper, cold and overpriced food. $24 for lobster crepes in this greasy fast food place - are you kidding?? Never again coming here.

Ordered deviled eggs and they did not have them. No cole slaw. My wife’s lobster crepe had no taste. She ordered fries with her meal and my meal was supposed to come with fries and we received one order. Not enough drawn butter. Service was not bad but not friendly. The French fries were OK and I had boiled lobster which is difficult to do wrong. Shrimp cocktail appetizer served with no side plates or silverware and we had to ask for napkins.
So disappointed. I got the lobster crepe which was absolutely tasteless. They did not have several items that I asked for. Service was not friendly. Fries were good.

We went to Abbott's based on a recommendation from a family member. We were looking for a hot buttered lobster roll and the one here delivered (we got the middle sized - called OMG). It came with chips and cole slaw. We hate inside, but still got a great view of the boats in the marina.
Wow, how things have changed. I have been going to Abbot’s for over 50 years and took my partner as a “treat” to reminisce on some fine New England seafood . Boy, what an overly expensive disaster of a meal. Gone are the days when a lobster roll meant lobster stuffed, over flowing on a fresh bun. NO MORE! We ordered 2 very expensive lobster rolls. What we received was approximately 3 tablespoons of lobster on a slider roll. We ordered chowders-“. We expected A full cup of chowder brimming with clams, potatoes and broth. MO MORE! What we got was a half a bowl of sloppy broth with any claim that clams or shrimp or corn or potatoes were ever introduced into the chowder would be left for a mystery writer to investigate. TERRIBLE. Our chowder was presented in a small styrofoam bowl that had 4 tablespoons of a caustic brown broth that was heavy on liquid and reminded me of leaking battery acid from a car garage. WOW- how things have changed. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY or TIME. Go anyplace else. Get Chunky canned chowder- at least you would get your money’s worth. Abbots is gone. Sad, very sad - tourist trap.

Not sure what is with the recent negative reviews but we had a great dinner! My cousin had the lobster roll and I had the short rib sandwich. Both came with coleslaw and chips. We enjoyed our food outside soaking in the lovely scenery. My only complaint was that there are no lids for the drinks. My root beer was hijacked by at least 14 yellow jackets.
Not only were the "shuckers choice oysters" spare and tasteless, they were left uncleaned with broken shell shards. Unfriendly order takers, careless food preparation, and exorbitant pricing add to our dining displeasure. Since there is nothing on the grass picnic table area to draw off flies and bees, we were swarmed and attacked with root beer soda. Drawn butter missing with my lobster dinner. Small lobster rolls--on hamburger bund?!?--poorly prepared and without any appeal. The worst food venue in the area: definitely in the rough for diners.
The food has gone down in quality while the prices have risen considerably. We spent over $600 for dinner. When one of the lobsters was the wrong one the manager argued and refused to replace it. The other lobsters were very over cooked and tough. The deviled eggs were obviously not fresh and had slime on the bottom of them. Perhaps I’m old fashioned but when repeat customers spend hundreds of dollars you don’t argue when the product is not up to the quality that is is expected or advertised to be. You replace it and you apologize. This seems beyond comprehension for the manager at Abbott’s.
Terrible service. Over 30 minutes for chicken fingers and fries. Two friends never got their food after waiting 35, minutes. They lost the order. I will never go back.
