“I've been hearing so many great things about this spot that I just had to visit. The location is small & hard to miss. It's a 'Grab & Go' so there's no indoor seating, however there are two outdoor tables if you absolutely need to eat on site.

The staff is friendly and accommodating. They gave me plenty of recommendations for how to order vegan.

The food was AMAZING. Bursting with flavor, color, & spice. They also have plenty of vegan options, so I will return. Definitely a must visit if you are in the area.“

Full review- Just found out about this gem and had to try it. As a connoisseur of Caribbean cuisine it is our mission to try and review every restaurant we can in the area.

Apparently, they’ve been open for a few months but we weren’t aware. Found them on a google maps search at 5.05pm on Saturday. The listing said they closed at 5pm. On a whim called the phone number immediately and pleaded with them to stay open for pick up. The kind lady replied that she was planning to be open for another couple of hours. So I jumped in the car and headed over there quickly.

We ordered variety of dishes :
- Chicken jerk chicken
- Curry goat
- Oxtail

The jerk chicken was running out so we completed the order with a little bit of stew chicken.

All the dishes were very good.
The rice and peas were truly special - Perhaps an extra dose of Love❤️
The Stew chicken was also outstanding.
We will be ordering all these dishes again.

The location is incredibly convenient. it is on College Street literally a block from Main Street.

Middletown is emerging us a culinary destination, and this lovely cozy Jamaican spot really elevates the game.

The food is good. The people are wonderful. the location is fantastic.

“As an event coordinator for our program, I had the pleasure of working with Milton from Jamaican Kitchen to cater a meeting we hosted in December for 55 attendees in Hamden. Although the nearest Jamaican Kitchen location was in Bristol, Milton kindly agreed to deliver the order to Hamden, going above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Having previously enjoyed their delicious food for a smaller group at the Hartford location, I knew Jamaican Kitchen would be an excellent choice. Milton was instrumental in helping me design a menu that fit within our budget while addressing the dietary restrictions of some attendees. The menu included rice and beans, steamed cabbage salad, sweet plantains, mini cocktail chicken and beef patties, jerk chicken, and vegetarian stew. Milton delivered the meal ahead of schedule, and everything arrived warm, neatly packaged, and clearly labeled—making service seamless. His professionalism, positive attitude, and responsiveness to my various inquiries made the entire experience stress-free. The attendees were thrilled with the meal, with particular praise for the cocktail patties. “Sister’s is a small and cozy neighborhood cafe located in the north end of Hartford that feels very homey. Great food, good vibes, and friendly service. The menu is a blend of Jamaican and Black American comfort food. I started to get the ackee and salt fish but stuck with an old southern favorite my grandma used to make. The fish and grits with a side of eggs didn’t disappoint! The fish was seasoned and fried perfectly and the grits were buttery and soft. I’ll be back the next time I’m in town.“

“I was disappointed because the servings of food are not consistent, one server makes sure to ask what you need and the food is good but the next server the following week really disappoint the rice was swimming in gravy it was so bad that it looked like dog food and I guess she didn't care about great service because the oxtails had 6 of the smallest pieces of oxtails that I have seen; this was so disappointing it felt like I had begged for some food. “Unassuming takeout only West Indian Restaurant. I have been a few times and the food is always excellent! I love the Jerk Chicken, peas and rice with Oxtail Gravy and Stewed Cabbage. Just the right amount of heat and the smoky flavor of the chicken is perfect! The cabbage is sweeter than I am used to, but I enjoyed it. It helped cut the heat. Parking can be difficult when it's busy, but so worth it!!!“
