Found this gem on Open Table when looking for Sunday brunch in New Haven. We were not disappointed!! The place has a cool eclectic vibe and interesting menu choices at very reasonable prices. We (party of 4) enjoyed a refreshing mimosa ($5.00!), margarita ($8.00), beer and coffee. We had 2 eggs Benedict dishes, chicken and waffles and the chicharron breakfast. All were delicious and generous portions. Our server, Alicia, was great - cheerful and informative about the menu and checked on us frequently. We will be back next time we pass through New Haven.

I had dinner at the bar and had the best experience. Eddy, the bartender, was so warm and welcoming. He makes great drinks and great conversation. I would go there just to talk to him. Then there’s the food, and everything I had was delicious. I’m so glad I decided to come here for dinner and I would recommend to anyone living in or visiting New Haven!

That need to make the extension room we sat in feel more comfortable. Need window treatments (because the patio is not nice to look out onto in the winter). There was also a bunch of extra chairs and equipment storage next to our table)

Easy to make reservations on Open Table and we were seated quickly when we arrived. Menu had a variety of choices and the prices were very reasonable. We had a table for 5 and shared 2 appetizers with enough food to go around. Dinner selections were hard to make since everything sounded so good! Definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Rick ,our server, was attentive. Nice comfy vibe. Loved the menu as it had something for everyone! I will be back. Great happy hour specials.

Great service by our waiter Eddy . Very nice and made sure we got our food timely to make the show at theater !

A server named Alex a semi-tall man with braids or locs dressed in all black displayed some of the most unprofessional behavior I’ve ever encountered in a dining establishment. From the moment we arrived, he was extremely rude and condescending. We had even given him a generous tip upfront, hoping to set a positive tone, yet he insulted my friend and then refused to serve us at all.

Throughout the entire interaction, we were genuinely confused as to why a server would behave so strangely, especially without any provocation. The entire experience felt hostile, uncomfortable, and completely unacceptable for a place where people come to dine and unwind.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a welcoming and respectful environment.

It was my birthday, I could barely eat anything due to my severe allergic allergy to shell fish. I was only able to order dessert. Which was amazing, however I wish I knew before hand that you guys cook everything in the same pans

I diamond in the rough for us. New Haven has many good places to eat. We were very pleased with 80 Proof. Alicia our server was a sweetheart and top notch. She knows the business very well. We need to come back soon. The food was great!!!

This was my first time at 80 Proof. I realized that the owners are the same ones from Barracuda and Te Amo Tequila, which is why the poor service did not surprise me.
It seems that everything is a problem for the waitresses and other people working there, with the exception of the host who received us at the door.
The atmosphere seems to be the same style that the owner aims for in their other establishments. The drinks were plain; we went for happy hour, and since the drinks were so flat, we decided not to stay.
I have to say that they really surprised us with the wings—I think they are excellent compared to the rest of the bars around. However, the rest of the happy hour food was extremely salty and poor quality.
The restrooms were clean but were missing paper to dry hands.
Overall, I think this is a place just for the wings. Since I already disliked Te Amo Tequila and Barracuda, this establishment is just as bad as the other places.
