Only nice thing about this place is the decor and atmosphere. Other than that. No. The general tso was small and hard, the beef noodle soup was not spicy at all even though we were told it was spicy. The fried rice I asked for beef and she gave me chicken? The service was lously. At one point we had to walk in the front of the restaurant to get our waiter. She did not bother to see how we liked the food when it come out, nearby patrons that were there after us left before us. The food is bland and overhyped, the service was not great. Spend your money elsewhere.

Nice atmosphere, cool vibe. Greeted warmly. Waited over 10 minutes before anyone come to the table and that was to deliver water. Drink order was finally taken once we asked for service. The appetizer was delicious. Main courses were served within 5 minutes of ordering them (reheated?) and they were mediocre. Bland flavor. Server never checked to see how we liked our meals. We did not finish the dishes and did not bother to take any of the food home.
Approx $30 per person without any alcohol or dessert. Parking was ample in nearby garages.

This was my first time trying Chef Jiang after hearing great reviews. Sadly our food was not good. The fried rice with pork was so oily we couldn’t eat it. The fried pork dumplings were full of dough and no filling.
The bok choy was so bland. I haven’t tried the wonton soup because everything else was not tasty at all.

Best authentic Sichuan foods in town.
Garlic eggplants were so good! Great with jasmine rice. And the fried mochi with brown sugar syrup came in 12 !!! They really hit the spot!!! Yummy spicy beef noodles too! Tender beef and noodles were chewy!
Delicious house fried rice with Chinese sausage and everything in it!!
Sautéed bok choy with garlic was excellent!
Also the spicy cumin beef was tasty but way too spicy for my liking!
Pumpkin mochi dessert was just ok.
Service can be hit or miss! We came a couple times! Sometimes the waitstaff was really good and friendly. Other times they never came over to check on us or refill our tea.
All In all, Almost everything we have tried here was delicious and we love big portions!!
Would love to come back when I’m in town again.

Chef Jiang has been an up and coming Chinese restaurant in New Haven, one that is suitable for a wide range of occasions, from more casual to formal. I love these hot pots because we get to pick the ingredients.

Great chinese food! Recommend the salt and pepper chicken, chong qing chicken, bok choy in garlic, and wonton in chili oil!
