Drive to New Haven which was a 40 min right specifically to try Somos Arepas. Im An arepa lover so im happy to have checked this off my list. It's set up similar to a salad bar where you need to choose your base ( a bowl or arepa) and then you can add your fillings with choice of protein, veggies, sauce ect . They also sell empanadas venezolanas It's very clean inside and staff was helpful and friendly.

The food was great. They use Chipotle style of putting together your food. Pick your meat, rice, then beans and veggies. Service is good. The dining room is clean and offers plenty of seating.

I've never had an arepa before, so I was excited to stumble upon this place. The space is open and inviting, and the employee who prepared our food was equally as friendly. I really enjoyed my arepa with pork carnitas, onions, and some other toppings. I only had one, but in the future I'd definitely order a second.

Excellent arepas! I had the pabellon (shredded beef, black beans, plantains) with the queso de mano and the avocado sauce. It was delicious--my only complaint was that it was super messy to eat, but it was totally worth it. I'll definitely be back for the avocado chicken salad!

We were on the hunt for lunch in an area we don't normally frequent. Once again my fellow Yelpers guided me to something tremendous. I've never heard of a cachapa and if you haven't get down to this spot and try one. It's a a sweet corn pancake griddled then stuffed with a myriad of delicious toppings and finally topped with your choice of sauce. All the flavors melded together to make this an absolute joy to eat.

I had never had it even heard of an arepa before finding this place. The food was delicious, servers weren't that friendly but I don't care because the food is amazing.

Absolutely delicious. The food here was very flavorful and the portions were plentiful. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the arepas and empanadas. Highly recommend giving this place a try

The arepas were hard in different places. The fillings were good though. Kinda wish I tried something else.

This is the first time I've ever had arepas and I would like to say that Somos did not disappoint! I stopped by to grab a late lunch and there was no wait to be served. The staff were very attentive and helpful in guiding me on how to order. The inside of the place is definitely very cute and gives off a modern-trendy vibe. I got an arepa with pork carnitas, queso de mano, all of the toppings, and spicy verde. I was so surprised how hefty the arepa turned out in the end. It was very flavorful and super filling - I was able to make two meals out of one arepa! I don't have a reference arepa to compare this to, but I would say that this is a good arepa. My friend who has had other arepas before likes Somos so I trust that this is authentic! This place is located on 9th Square and there're options to sit indoors or outdoors - both are very cute and have great opportunities for photos. It's a very clean restaurant with so much seating space that you don't have to worry about looking for a place to sit. Overall, this was a decent place and I could see myself going back there again for another arepa - maybe with different fillings to try out everything that they have!

Stopped in here for a light pre-game meal before a show at College Street Music Hall. It's located in a perky little enclave of restaurants not far off the beaten path in downtown. The set up is pretty straightforward: pick an arepa (cornmeal pocket), cachaca (cornmeal pancake) or bowl; select a protein; choose a cheese; add some fixins and top it off with a sauce. I opted for an arepa with carne mechada, fresco, avacado, lettuce, tomatoes, plantains, pickled onions and chipotle may. It really hit the spot; I found that one arepa filled me up nicely. The staff were very friendly, and the vibe of the interior was on trend. The only thing I might change was that sauces should be available on the side. Oh, and the day we went there was no toilet tissue. But all in all I really enjoyed it and will be back.

My sister and I had the bowls and they were not only delicious but also very filling! The garlic/cilantro aioli is to die for and all the options/ingredients felt fresh. I will definitely be coming back again. Although there was not much of a selection for add ons, you didn't really need much of it because all of the simple ingredients combined deliciously. I just wished they gave more sauce for what it was worth when you ask for extra sauce. (50 cents).

Excellent. The handmade arepas are the signature dish at this restaurant. Highly recommend.

Tried Somos for the the first time and it was pretty good. We tried all of their 3 options, but def would rec. the Cachapa and even bowl instead of the arepa! When we went, it was super dried out and a much smaller portion than the other options. For meat, would def. recommend the carne mechado. The pulled pork and chicken were very dry. We also tried the tequenos which were delicious! Eat them while they're hot for optimal cheesy texture! Prices and topping style is very Chipotle-esque but with way smaller portions. Be aware that not all of their topping options were listed on the board, and I hope perhaps in the future they can update this and organize their sauces on the board from spicy to not spicy for more clarity. Ordering was a bit of a guessing game. Otherwise, the place was clean with ample seating both inside and out.

Delicious!!!! This fresh corn Arepa was so airy filled with flavor & some tender steak, cheese, pickled onions, jalapeno & sauce. Was a explosive of flavor with great fresh ingredients. What a wonderful experience to something I haven't ever tried. So worth it along with a beautiful night market the elm city hosted as well.
