My friend and I went there with high hopes, both ordering a egg and cheese on a roll as well as two lavender earl grey cupcakes. First of all, the egg to bread ratio is absolutely ridiculous. They made one egg and put one piece of cheese on a massive roll. I couldn’t even take more than two bites without having to chug a glass of water. Second, they forgot the cheese on my friend’s egg and CHEESE sandwich… which we didn’t realize until 20 minutes later when we got home. Third, the cupcakes were stale, dry, lacking in flavor, and generally underwhelming. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

A great local breakfast stop with fresh egg sandwiches made onsite

I bought a few things for my wife and I. Couldn't really decide on what to get because the endless amount of options overwhelmed me. Bug can't wait to come back with my wife to have a nice breakfast there. Everything smelled so good even with the mask on. The breakfast burrito was calling my name, but next time.

I passed Four Flours Baking Company on my way up to the Yale Bowl for a football game and needed a quick breakfast. The bakery part has some unique and clever pastries which are reasonably priced. There was a nice selection and they have a window where you can see where everything is made. I had one of their Breakfast sandwiches with bacon and cheese on a freshly baked roll that they make in house. The cheese was a spicy peppery Jack Cheese and that changed the complexity of the sandwich. The service was very nice but it did take some time to make the sandwich and I was late for the game. There was only one guy working but he did a nice job and I enjoyed the sandwich. The service is very friendly and the shop is bright and colorful and welcoming.

They have day old half dozens for half price! I bought 24 cookies for about 10.98 after tax. And they were all delicious in particular the lemon sugar! Need to reheat though for optimal softness. They did also have muffins for the day old sale. I think the normal price is too much.

Four Flours is the local bakery that every supermarket in New Haven County sells. I decided to pop into the store to get some freshly baked goods and try some vegan offerings that I don't normally pick up at the store because why not? They have been around for a while and most people in the area already have a solid opinion, so this review is pretty much for the store itself and the service. They have a two person max in store and sneeze guards so I felt pretty safe re: COVID. They also offer delivery min of $15 with a small fee ($1.99). The store front is very clean and small but you can see them making food in the production kitchen, which is kind of neat. They have some unmarked seemingly vegan-friendly granolas and cases of cookie sandwiches and beverages. One thing I like about this business is that everything is marked with a sticker if it is x-diet friendly or has an allergen (nuts, vegan, gf). Their website advertises that they have vegan or gf versions of many of their quick breads but in store they have a limited stock of whole loaves and many slices (available on Snackpass). Some of the slices are a day old to maybe 3 days old? They also offer 50% off on day-old baked goods on the bottom shelf and if you are buying them from a grocery store you already know how moist the cakes are a few days out, so you're not losing anything. I recommend: Zucchini and Carrot ($8.95) - I bought the standard one for my partner who said this was very good. (vegan) Lemon Poppy ($2.60/slice) - bright and nicely zested. Not too sweet. This was my favorite, and I would buy this again. I do not recommend: Banana Bread - vegan or standard. We were both extremely disappointed at how gummy and dense both versions were. The vegan one was also kind of bland but the nuts were a nice touch. Vegan Apple Cake - well spiced but gummy and over mixed. I cut out the middle, ate the top and threw the rest away. If they sold this as muffin tops, I would purchase again. Solid meh: Egg and Cheese sandwich on Brioche. My partner thought it was okay, but not worth the hype. I spent quite a bit of money here it technically could have qualified for delivery, but the quick bread loaves are not on their Snackpass menu. Snackpass is the way to go for this shop as service can be kind of slow and I had a weird experience here when trying to pay for additional food (e.g I just stood waiting for someone to help me until I realized the person helping me in the front didn't notice I was there. Calling people through a mask is awkward). I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but, as a vegan, I would come here for a lemon poppy slice and leave the rest. This is a place that I wish I could give a half star to. 2.5/5.

A blueberry scone and chocolate coconut cookies hit the spot. Wonderful flavors. Great quality. Will come back.

First time in shop. Had only had their cookies and ice cream cookie sandwich at street fairs in the past. The space is clean and has a very comfortable feel to it. I thought they only had cookies and some other baked goods but was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a very broad range of baked goods as well as sandwiches. Wraps, Salads, and whole loaf breads. I got the chocolate chip and oatmeal chocolate chip coconut cookies, chocolate chip scone and chocolate cranberry biscotti. The cookies were good, not great. The scone was very good, both moist and dry. I got the biscotti for mom so will have to report back after asking her.

I really wanted to like this place. The staff is super friendly, and i felt very welcomed. However, their food (a scone and coconut cookies) was just way too sweet for me.

The staff was really nice when I called to order cupcakes to be delivered to my friend, who is alone on her birthday, due to Covid. That’s why I was very surprised when the cupcakes never materialized. They were to be delivered this afternoon, and so my friend came home early to receive them. No cupcakes ever arrived, so she finally called to tell me. Neither did anyone from the bakery call to tell me that there was any problem. Nothing. In addition to the normal delivery charge, I had added a $10 tip. I am very disappointed in this situation and with the service at this bakery.- ADDENDUM TO REVIEW: Emily from Four Flours contacted me the next day (today), though the store was officially closed. Apparently the delivery person had somehow missed my order and never dropped it off. Emily was very apologetic and was clearly very sorry for the mishap. She offered to drop off the cupcakes today herself, and to refund my charges. She also offered more cupcakes for free. When I told her that I had gotten other cupcakes for my friend, because the store was supposed to be closed today, she said my charges would be refunded. She then offered free delivery, free treats and a discount on a future order, should I ever want to order from them again. Although I am disappointed that this mistake happened, I appreciate that Emily made an earnest attempt to remediate the situation, and I can see that this situation is not the norm for this bakery. This is the interesting thing about customer service: Mistakes do happen. You, as the customer, always hope that when a company makes a mistake, there will be a genuine attempt to compensate and make up for the negative experience. Based on this experience, and the fact that my friend told me their baked goods are really good, I would recommend Four Flours Baking Company.
