I went to the Study for dinner last night. I had a wonderful experience. food and drink were great.
Even more important the staff in particular Kevin and Jeremy were amazing very helpful in helping us set up for a small party but catered to our every need for a amazing evening.
Highly recommend especially for private parties

The dining space of heirloom is beautiful. However, there are all hard surfaces and nothing to damp in the noise, which was substantial. Although the room wasn't full at the time, I was there, there wasn't enough staff there. The staff that was there was competent, energetic, and tried their best; however wait times were long. I selected filtered water over tap-water which they charged nine dollars for. The food itself was OK. So overall, OK food, expensive prices, slow service, loud room.
We told the waiter when we came we had to leave at 7:30 and had no problem getting prompt service even though it was busy. Vegetarian dish was great.
My crabcake might have been the best I've ever had. . .or anyway the best in a very long time. The fennel salad accompanying it was delicious, fresh, perfect texture. My partner said his bison steak was delicious, cooked rare as ordered, fries very good. Coffee was excellent.
It was terrible! Restaurant decor is tired and in need of some TLC. What a dump. And service was awful. Waiter was not attentive at all and we were the only couple in the place at 5 pm on a Thursday . He wasn't busy! Won't go back! My Cobb salad was soaked in dressing.
The food is really great and the vibe is fantastic.

While the food was not particularly memorable during my visit, the drink selection alone makes it worth stopping by for a casual evening or a drink with friends. Service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience.
We arrived at Heirloom expecting a special night, but the greeting was as absent as the flavor: no hostess in sight, no staff acknowledgment for several minutes—it was a preview of the evening’s theme: neglect and blandness.
We ordered the non-alcoholic Aperol Spritz (which tasted like regret), the ploughman’s board, clam chowder, bison steak, and filet mignon with mushroom risotto. Unfortunately, the kitchen had apparently taken a vow of flavor celibacy: the soup was flat, the bison was dull, and the risotto was a culinary beige wall.
For $162 (before tip), we expected fireworks and, instead, we got cardboard confetti. It was our 10th wedding anniversary, and the meal managed to make “forgettable” feel like a generous description. By the time the entrées hit, we abandoned the thought of dessert to avoid more disappointment and wasted money.
In short: Heirloom turned our celebration into a cautionary tale. We won’t be back, and we certainly won’t recommend it.

Very slow to attend to our table, this has happened twice now. Food was delivered late, and the order was messed up.
Very inconsistent. I had the cast iron scallops which were delicious. My wife had the black cod, which was mediocre at best. My daughter, who is vegetarian, had the cauliflower steak, which was very tasty. Appetizers were great - blistered shisito peppers, smoky tomato soup and sweet potato fries. Desert sorbet was mediocre. Desert chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream was excellent. Mocktails were generally great. Service was definitely below par. Waitress was not very helpful or flexible and did not pay much attention to us. Parking situation is abysmal. There is supposed to be free valet parking as part of the attached hotel but they can get too busy in the hotel and then can't heal the surrounding streets are one way so it takes a while. I would not go back because service, parking and a featured dish, the black cod, was really pretty awful.

This could be a great restaurant, and when it started it was a very good one, but it's become a waste of time and money. Over the past year and half, I had one mediocre dinner and one disappointing dinner, but it was bunch today that sealed the deal. For starters, the menu bore no connection to the brunch menu on their website: the web menu looked diverse and interesting, the menu they handed out looked like a short diner menu (which is great at a diner, but not at an expensive restaurant). The table was dirty. When our waitress arrived, right in front of us she picked up the salt and pepper shakers to cover part of the mess. When we then gently asked her, the next time she came back, to clean the table, she obliged by grabbing a rag and knocking the pieces of food to the floor near our feet. Our water was a half-filled room-temperature bottle grabbed from a nearby table. My wife ordered avocado toast. It looked and tasted like it was made by slabbing one of those avocado squeeze packs you can get at Costco onto a piece of stale sourdough. I ordered ricotta pancakes, which contained no hint of ricotta; they seemed to be the basic foodservice mix pancakes you can find at a college cafeteria. It's a beautiful space, and I'd rate the ambience higher, but it's connected to a hotel, and the restaurant apparently doesn't mind people coming there in their pajamas from the elevator (at 11am). Honestly, you'd do just about as well at the free breakfast buffet at a highway LaQuinta. But for what it's worth, if you're looking for a swank bar after a show at Yale Rep, it's a nice nighttime place to grab a drink.

A real waste of time and money. This place used to be good but now is on autopilot and doesn't care at all. Brunch yesterday was a disaster. The in-person menu was basically a short diner menu, a bait-and-switch from the interesting brunch menu on their website. The table was dirty. Our waitress picked up the salt and pepper shakers to cover part of the mess after we'd been seated. When we then gently asked her, the next time she came back, to clean the table, she grabbed a rag and knocked the pieces of food to the floor. Just avoid the food and the wait staff and seeing the place in the light.
Every plate looked like it came from a magazine.

Breakfast was kinda meh. By the reviews seems like this place does lunch better.
Mushroom Omlette was the best, although the mushrooms could've been of better quality imo.
Ricotta Pancakes kinda felt like regular pancakes (i've made ricotta pancakes before, they should be *much* fluffier). Expected blueberries to be in the pancakes but they came outside.
Egg looked pretty good, but it tasted kinda bland. Potatoes as well. Needs more flavor!
Bacon was really pretty meh. Only had one piece. Not crispy at all.
Service was ok. Atmosphere pretty good although the chair backs were unnecessarily short.

Heirloom has some of the best cocktails in New Haven (especially now that Bar August has closed). The variety of flavors and the creativity behind the mixes are excellent, and the menu gets refreshed with new drinks every six months, which keeps things exciting. All of the bartenders are very kind and skilled—no matter who makes your drink, it’s always top quality.
Prices are a bit higher than most bars in New Haven, but in my opinion, the cocktails are worth it. I only tried the steak and fries once, and for the price it didn’t quite meet my expectations. That said, I definitely recommend Heirloom for the drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed and elegant, thanks to its location inside the hotel, the restrooms are clean, and it’s a great spot to sit back and enjoy truly well-made cocktails.
