Stopped in on a Sunday around 2pm and place was completely empty besides the workers and us. We sat down for hibachi. Crab ragoons were on the smaller side but were very good. Hibachi chef was entertaining, even though it was just us. Huge portion of noodle and rice. You either get noodles or rice, both is an up charge I’ve never seen anywhere else before. Filet was very tender but everything lacked some spice and flavor, fairly bland but was edible. Be aware they charge a 20% “service fee” which is not stated anywhere and expect you to tip on top. I get a fee for a larger party, but not for two. Also the loud rap music with swears and stuff was really out of place. Maybe try again? We will see..

I have been to kumo many times but never had a chance to review. This time the food was a little off and salty. Still edible but has definitely been better before. Everything was amazing per usual.

Went to the Kumo on Elm Street . The food was ok . The service was NOT good. First we asked if myself and one other person could sit at the Hibachi table. They said yes . However we was there 5 mins before the waiter came rushing us to order, I said sir we just sat down can you give us some to look at the menu. He came back 2 mins again stalking us to order. When we gave him our order he told us we had to move if we both wasn't ordering Hibachi. Only 1 of us wanted Hibachi, so now we had to get up and move to the back. None of this was explained before being situated at the Hibachi table. We moved to the back, after receiving our food , it was as if he was watching us eat and wanted to rush us out . His energy was very off putting and not a service one would appreciate when wanting to dine out . After we was done and got the check. I was charged a 18% service charge for two people which I actually thought was the gratuity charge. I thought wow he already just added his gratuity for lackluster service then suggested i gave more ?!
No sir ... I did a little research after I left and discovered this restaurant charges, 7.5 % taxes and adds an 18% service charge for 2 people.
This should be posted in plan english in clear view for customers to be aware of these charges. Therefore, i put you already added the gratuity on the receipt.
Not sure if this is a new thing there but i was blind sided since this is the first time i had this charge placed on a receipt for 2 people sitting a regular table.
I will not be eating there all these extra charges on top of gratuity is way to much this is not a 5 star restaurant . Even though our waiters service was not good, I would've still left a gratuity if I was aware that the 18% he already was for his lackluster service. I concluded management is making customers pay their works off the top in addition to gratuity! Times are hard and eating out is a treat , these charges should be clear had this been clarified we would have not eaten there especially after been rushed to order and eat. They need a customer relations course so they could not be so rude to customers patrons trying to support their business.

First time here at a friend's recommendation. I've been looking for a Japanese restaurant and enjoyed the food a lot. We got beef and salmon teriyaki lunch specials. I got salad, friend had miso soup. Appetizers were salmon avocado Maki roll and Katsu. The Maki roll was creamy fresh. Katsu was very crispy outside, flaky inside. Both teriyaki dishes were delicious. I'll be back.

First timer here. Did not like the food. The Ricé had too much pepper. I complained & they gave me another plate of rice, which now had No flavor. The veggies were hard & my Filet Mignon had absolutely No flavor when I bit into it. The only thing I ate were the Shrimps, which was missing flavor too. When I ask for a refill of soda, was told no free refills. You get either soup or salad, Rice or Noodles! I recommend Nobles Hibachi, where for the Same price, you get Rice, Noodles, Soup, Salad, & Free beverage Refill.
Tried this for the first time tonight with my son. Was not offered a hibachi table even though they were open and in use. Paper menu that they promptly take back after ordering. I asked for water and apparently upset the waitress because I asked for lemons where I got an eye roll and was provided two slices. Menu is very long and offers a huge variety. I got the steak and chicken hibachi. Salad was amazing. Clear soup was bland. Ordered steak medium and was delivered well done. Everything was covered in teriyaki sauce. My son got the dinner box. He said he enjoyed the sushi. The fried vegetables had a lot of breaded starches. Moderately enjoyed the Chinese dumplings. Took forever to get someone's attention to try to get a Togo box. Finally asked our waitress (who initially took our drink order and food order) where I was promptly informed she no longer was, and I'd need to ask my waitress who we'd never met. The 2nd waitress seemed nice enough and delivered two boxes and the check. I asked for some yum yum sauce Togo and was given half of a container (small plastic 1oz ***maybe***) of one. Probably won't go back.
Parking: Parking is around back.
