About Hachiroku Shokudo & Sake Bar

Hachiroku Shokudo & Sake Bar is a highly regarded restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. Known for its fresh and flavorful dishes, Hachiroku is a must-visit for sashimi and wagyu beef curry enthusiasts. The restaurant provides a unique Omakase-style experience, where every dish is carefully prepared and presented, with edible florals and garnishes. The menu features delicious entrees such as black cod, unagi, uni, and ikura, along with a flavorful curry with wagyu beef. The braised pork belly is especially popular, praised for its tenderness that falls apart with chopsticks, and diners often enjoy the rich sauce even after finishing the dish.

The sake collection is impressive, including a $35 sake flight with four mid-tier options, perfect for pairing with the traditional Japanese cuisine. Customers also appreciate the wide variety of sake and the friendly, knowledgeable service. The restaurant’s offerings are more focused on authentic Japanese flavors and small plates rather than traditional sushi.

Despite being known for its creative small plates, Hachiroku remains a favorite for many in New Haven, with loyal customers eagerly awaiting its move to a new location. The restaurant also features a selection of wines from Ungrafted, adding to its diverse beverage options. Diners are encouraged to follow updates on Instagram to stay informed about the reopening and new offerings.

food is delicious, the atmosphere is also really good!

Locals rave about this restaurant and for good reason - the sashimi is succulent and fresh, Japanese delicacies such as uni are surprisingly well chosen and the sake flights of course are outstanding. Only quibble is it really does feel like an aged, not well kept Western bar inside

Excellent food, and the sake tasting flights are spectacular. Friendly and attentive (but not intrusive) service.
