Fancy atmosphere in lobby of boutique hotel. Good coffee and was one of only places open at 8 or 9 am on Saturday after thanksgiving!

Atmosphere was great. Good place to meet and chat. Coffee was good but the cashier at the counter was not attentive at all.

Tucked in the back of the beautiful Graduate Hotel, Poindexter Coffee has become my go-to spot. The lobby’s cool furniture and big communal tables make it feel stylish but relaxed, and the space itself is great, high ceilings, tons of natural light, and plenty of room to spread out. The coffee is consistent. The staff is genuinely kind, especially to pets; my dog is always welcomed with smiles and a treat. Between the pet-friendly vibe (hotel included), friendly service, and comfortable setup, it’s the perfect place to post up with a latte and stay awhile. Highly recommend.

Nice place to sit. I bought a coffee and just threw it out. But coffee is mediocre. Seems as though all the coffee in New Haven is mediocre, though. Surprising given the proximity to a reputable university. I'm trying not to generalize to broadly but, I guess, failing.

PLEASE replace your cashier (curly hair lady with tattoos). She literally looked annoyed when I stepped in. Didn’t greet me at all to take my order. So then she makes my coffee and doesn’t even say your coffee is ready. Left it on the counter for 5 minutes till i looked at the coffee bar. She was in her phone the whole time.
There’s people who will do a better job at this job and will respect their work as well. No ethics and no morals don’t belong in the food industry.

This is a more silent focused cafe in a hotel, the vibe is vintage and I would say “manly”. This is a great place to do work, there’s a decent amount of seating that gets wildly occupied during school (Yale) season— be mindful of this if you are going here. There is a room with a curtain and a couple booths, providing a private place to do work. The drink options here flavor wise are somewhat limited but they do have seasonal drinks which is nice. I have never tried their food but it seems all premade, so I’m not very interested.
This business would be more enjoyable and successful if their hours of operation were to be expanded until 11 pm or 12 am, 6 days a week. There should also be an additional of halal foods or snacks for customers to purchase.

Dont serve cold and old drip coffee just say you are out or will make a new one but paying $4 for cold old drip coffee is wild. The latte was also mediocre, over heating the milk- way too bubbly instead of foamy.

Needed a place to sit and work for a while, and Poindexter was perfect! There are plenty of tables and comfy sitting areas, with minimal music and noise. The cold brew with brown sugar syrup was tasty, and friendly service.
A wonderful surprise!

Very slow, kind of rude service. The place is pretty but I would not recommend.

Incredible coffee, atmosphere, and people. Skip the food; it's all prepackaged, microwaved, small, and ridiculously overpriced. But the coffee? Not a skip.

Stopped by here today for the second time ever around 2:30pm (on a Friday). I walk up to the counter and the young barista looks at me like I have two heads saying, “um we’re closed,” But the closing time is 3:30pm. Just a weird experience overall. Been here one other time and it was great. The inside is so beautiful but I was brining a visitor from out of state to check it out and this experience just left a bad impression.

This place is such a charmer that I want it to be a go to coffee shop.
I need to eat before I have coffee and this place often has a very limited selection of what looks like days old pastries. I often need a coffee shop to eat and have coffee while i wait for my daughter 1-2 hours. This place is beautiful but lacks the food aspect. The hours are also a little short making it hard to drop in outside of the morning.
If they had better hours and food i would give this place 5 stars and be here daily.

This is the best coffee shop in the NHV downtown core, in my opinion. Great coffee (typically from a semi-local roaster), plus a beautiful, spacious seating area.
