I typically love Rudy’s but will never come back because of a super rude bartender.

Literally the worst service I've ever gotten in my life from some grumpy old man who doesn't know how to communicate like an adult. If your kitchen doesn't want to serve food just say that instead of mumbling under your breath at us that we should 'go somewhere else'. I will go somewhere else every single time going forward. I work in the industry, I get it if it's too late for food but don't say we have 15mins to order and then be completely standoffish and rude the entire time after YOU SAID we could order. Just say the kitchen is closed next time you have this problem before you irritate more people to the point they won't ever come back.

Went Sunday night around 8:30. Old male bartender was there. Very rude, ugly, and old. Idk how that guy has a job. Mumbling under his breath for us to go else where for food, terrible vibe. Will never be back. Whoever owns this place must just hire anybody! Zero stars.
Jordan and Claire were the best bartenders I have had while traveling. They were told to close out early, but took good care of patrons until closing time. An amazing local bar in a fun part of town!
Stopped in before going to a show at the Westville Music Bowl. Got the New Haven Burger. That may have been the most juicy flavorful burger I've had in a long time. Sandwich is huge so cutting it in half may have made eating in a little easier. Great fries. Would definitely go back when in the area.

They hands down have the best fries in New Haven. They do fancy sauces but honestly the fries (the regular ones don't do anything extra trust me) would taste good with any ordinary sauce. But def get some sauce with it. Cool place to trivia and ofc get a drink (lol). Haven't tried their other food tbh because I can never get past the fries.
The atmosphere very much depends on the time of day (like most pubs I guess). But during the day they have all their doors open making it nice and breezy for a summer beer after work with pals. Night is more chaotic but in a good way and everybody is vibing. Go for the fries stay for the vibes kinda place.
(Apparently their maple sriracha sauce is a big deal but I don't get the hype.)

Service was awesome! Had the wings and fries. I heard the owner is Belgian- so order the fries and pick from the various options of fun mayo flavors. Happy hours and price are tough to beat.

Rudy's 5 star review is a double dunk. As a vegetarian, i wasn't expecting many entree options, if any at all. Nothing against them specifically, but i can't even find any veggie love at big chains or many small cool-vibe cafes either. Hey, having a salad on the menu doesn't check the vg box.Rudy's had 3 vg menu options. I selected their chickpea fritter wrap, which was I've never seen before. When served, it automatically took 1st as the best-looking dish on the table. I was with my family of four. Then, for the Jordan foul line dunk finish, the taste was fantastic.Classic pub vibe.
Vegetarian options: Chickpea fritter wrap is a Michael Jordan foul line dunk.

Service and atmosphere are great! Went there for Sunday brunch (not mimosas, unsure if they have any // I didn’t look for it) and had a good time. They offer a wide variety of sauces, and the ones I tried were all good. Fries were yummy, but main dishes left something to be desired. They were good overall though and the service quality makes up for it! I’d come back.

Place is aptly named ( Rude )Asked the young ladies bartending if they could change channel to an NCAA gameWas toldOwner put channels on tonight and they are not changing !Another customer came up during our conversation with the same request and she saidIt is what it is, we are not changing channels !When I said nicely “ You know this is kind of crazy , right ?”She went and got my check for the only drink I had ordered and slammed it down saying “ after this you are done, go find a Buffalo Wild Wing “ !!

This place has really gone downhill. Bar was pretty empty at 5PM, came in with some friends for a drink and brought me a sandwich and block of cheese.Bartender immediately walked up to me and yelled at me to get out (no outside food allowed). This was understandable, so I threw the rest away and came back nibbling on a remaining piece of cheese. The bartender told me to get out again, and after coming in back in he yelled that he would refuse to serve me any drinks. After just standing and chatting with my friends (for about 10 min) he then singled me out, yelling that because he’s not going to serve me that I need to leave.
